So I guess I'm bumping up and old thread, but I'm in the middle of swapping my 2002 wrx with an STI swap out of a 2007 STI limited. And had a question, I was curious if I could use the abs hardlines that are still in the wrx and get them to work with the STI abs module? The abs is really the only thing holding me up. Has anyone tried this?

So important info for the swap
I’m swapping a 2007 Impreza 2.5i with a 2005 STi, drivetrain, brakes, interior, wiring, everything. Some things that you need to know if you’re doing this are...
-If you want to keep the rear diff temperature sensor, you’ll need to drop the tank and remove the wiring harness from it, it unplugs under the rear seat. -Try to buy a cheap parts car, it will make it much much easier than having to source every part. -Figure out a set plan so you don’t have to go back to do things and triple check everything before moving on to the next step. -Try to keep as much stuff together as possible, for instance if you are pulling the front subframe, don’t bother taking the steering rack and PS lines and pump off, just remove everything as 1 piece, this insurances that everything is together correctly. -Just remember that this will not be a quick and easy process, you will run into problems and things that you are unsure of, just do your research and figure out how to solve the problems you run into. Good Luck with the swap if you are going through with it. Just be prepared to need small things that you don’t have and be prepared to spend a lot of money. I’ll be doing a full write up when the swap is finished. |

Hi guys I see a lot of 02-03 swaps with sti and I know the 04 wrx is different than the 05-07 wiring. My question is to do a full sti swap in a 05 wagon do you need all the wire harnesses for the swap? Are any of the wires interchangeable? The sti I got this from was a 05 as well. I have the 2.5L, 6sp trans, axles, sti ecu, hubs and knuckles. I have been reading up on where you need to get the harness for 02-03 swaps because they changed the wiring. I was wondering which wiring harnesses do I need to do the full swap?

Reviewed all the conversions and they all appear to be from early 2000 models. Looking to see if the same applies for my swap from an 2011 WRX engine to a built IAG STI block. Currently have it running and tuned with the stock 2011 wiring harness. Planning to swap the wiring harness over to STI to get access to the exhaust cam timing. Will I need more than just the engine harness?

For the appropriate wiring that would of course include the engine harness. But in my research some sources say I would need the dash harness as well, but other sources say not required.

My 17 year old son bought a 2000 Subaru Impreza that originally had a 2.5L engine in it. The previous owner had swapped in a JDM engine, a 2002 2L turbo model. He swore it had run but that he had recently pulled the engine to replace the clutch. Well my son bought it (against my advice) believing the guy and wanting to get it going.
Needless to say, it doesn’t run. We have tested fuel pressure, changed the spark plugs, checked the timing, etc. We have now gotten it to the point where it will turn over and catch for a second or two and then die. We then discovered that if we keep cranking it, it runs, that is, if the ignition switch is in the start position it will keep running and is responsive to throttle. We disconnected the power wire from the starter to disengage the starter. I believe the wiring harness and ECU is stock with the 2000 Impreza. Maybe the next place to go is the ignition switch? |
