Eco Ultra Synthetic Oil?
Have any of you used Eco Ultra Synthetic motor oil? I was doing some oil shopping and the guy recommended it. It's been around for awhile but i have not seen any subie owners use it. Its around 30$ so i was looking for some opinions on it.. Thanks in advance

It's a part synthetic so I wouldn't run it in a WRX. Not much about it at bitog. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...Number=2396771 -Dennis |

Anything "eco" sounds bad. Not only does branding it "eco" sound like a marketing ploy, all the eco oils i've seen shear down to lower grades very quickly in the turbo Subaru engines... I mean it shears down Mobil1 5W30 or Royal purple 5W30 and these cause spun bearings and several thousand dollar repairs...
The turbo engines are on the edge of a cliff in terms of oil that will keep them from spinning bearings. Do you really want to experiment with oil that might be off the edge of that cliff because "the guy" recommended it? If you do choose to run it, don't use anything lower grade than a xW40. Most xW40 oils won't shear down enough in viscosity to put you in too much danger. If you choose to run the xW30 oil, I'd run a used oil analysis as low as 2000 miles to check for viscosity breakdown. Last edited by Concillian; 10-05-2012 at 11:20 AM. |

Thanks guys.. i did not get it i was just curious about it since it was cheaper and i never heard of it.. My buddy just actually informed me about this oil and it is a big no go for turbo engines. It is not even real synthetic oil which sounds terrible. My apologies should have searched a little harder before posting.. Thanks!
