EQ Built Block, ATP 35R, 5,000ft Above Sea Level, 91 Octane + Meth = 437WHP!
This is a project car we've been working on for a while. We finally delivered the car to the customer in Reno this weekend and did high altitude tune on the brand new motor. Here is the mod list:
05 STI: - EQ Tuning Stage 1 Shortblock (CP Pistons, ACL Race Series Bearings, OEM Forged STI Rods, Balanced/Polished OEM STI Crank, Balanced & Blueprinted to our strict specs) - EQ Tuning Mild Built Heads (BC Stage 2 Cams, BC Titanium Springs/Retainers, 5 Angle Valve-Job, Mild P&P) - EQ Tuning Prototype Split Pulse Header/Uppipe - ATP Stock Location 35R w/ Integrated Tial 44mm EWG (dumped back into DP) - TurboXS FMIC - EQ Tuning Blow-Through MAF Kit for TurboXS/SSAC FMIC - EQ Tuning Short Ram Intake Kit for Blow-Through Application - Greddy Type RS BOV - Invidia Catless Downpipe w/ custom flex EWG dump tube - Invidia Catback - EQ Tuning Baffled Oil Catch Can - Deatschwerks 850cc Injectors - Perrin Fuel Rails - Custom Oil Cooler - Coolingmist Water/Meth Injection modified with all braided lines, S-HSV, and different spray nozzle - Grimmspeed Phenolic Spacers - Hallman Pro RX MBC - RPS Max Series Clutch / ACT Streetlight Flyhweel This tune was done with Cobb AP at over 5,000 feet ASL on 91 Octane and 50/50 water/meth. Peak boost was kept at 24psi peak as the motor is still breaking in . The power we got at this elevation is really impressive but the lag was a bit more than I expected. Everything is MUCH laggier up at this elevation, so I'll reserve judgment until we get to tune this car down at sea level on some race gas. 30psi+ and 8k RPM should really wake this one up! Here is the graph from the high elevation tune: *** Standard Dyno Chart Disclaimer *** This software reads low and should be compared to the lower reading mustang dynos. Here are some proven numbers and trap speeds for reference: Stock WRX - 155-165whp Stock STI - 215-225whp 265-275whp - 107-108mph traps 300-310whp - 112-113mph traps 325-335whp - 115-116mph traps 380-390whp - 120-121mph traps *** End Disclaimer *** Thanks -- Ed

The factory STI rods are forged and I have yet to see one fail. I don't see them being a problem until you start pushing 35psi+. Thanks -- Ed |
