The 5 is less shifts and longer when u go ppg, but the legacy gears aren't gonna hold any real power drag racing and the rear diff isn't as beefier either, if your serious drag racing u can throw in an sti swap with r180 and hold 600+ ft lbs of torque with the right clutch. The case of the 5 speed is also a super weak link of its design.

The USDM STI with overdrive isn't bad, i like the JDM 6 speed a little better if your not highway driving all day. I don't like running the dccd center diff open though, the bind clunk gets annoying.

Or just get a HKS sequential box with a Ford rear end, that is if all you are worried about is driving a few seconds a run in a straight line, all day long.

Are you not running a controller?

+1

I was pulling bits out of my rear diff and I had a whine in my tranny by the time I did the rebuild on my LGT

That's no good. Kinda funny, but I'm sorry. Was it just double-sided taped on?

Yes... but it was a 28 year old OEM one and there wasn't much left... it probably evaporated before it hit the ground.

Yeah, now that I have coilovers, oil changes are little bit more cumbersome. I've got to jack the car up to get the jack under the car to jack the car up to put the jack stands under it.

High...lift Jack?

Yeah, I was going to keep going with the jack references, but Kiwi was in the mood for giving points to people (just one at a time), so I kept it to a minimum.
