Default LAN Party (The much awaited sequel)

so, from my calculations we will be able to loosely support 16 people this time.

technically we could go for more, but my goal is a 100% switched network.
last time we did this we had some computers operating on a hub and it really turned into a bottleneck as far as network latency.

October 19(friday evening)-21 (or till whenever people leave) seems to be the best time to do this.

What you'll need:
A computer with a 10/100BT NIC (Network Adapter)
You'll also be responsible for power cords, adapters, sound, monitor.. pretty much anything that IS your computer

Whatever cat-5 cables you've got, power strips.. atleast one for yourself.

a good 3D graphics card is a must. a weak card will lessen your enjoyment due to crap frame rates.. and other w0nkyness

Lots O Hard drive space It's likely we'll be playing games you might not have, you'll need the space to install them

B33R

We usually play games like Rogue Spear, the Need for Speed series, whatever intresting LAN games there are.

if you say you're going to go, you better mean it.
I'm not going to take kindly to weak reservations that end up being a bunch of empty spots when it comes down to it.

so if you say you're going to be there.. be there.

I'm not going to ask for confirmation till the week before, but if you're intrested start looking for the time off or whatever you need to be doing. When we get to the last week I'll start another thread to make confirmations of who is going to be there.

so, who's intrested?

Hmm... Jim's "LAN Boot Camp." Be there or else! You crack me up, man.

Me, I'll probably not be working any more at that time, so there's a chance. I'll keep you posted.

That's funny. I voted that Jim made this a poll because he's an idot and found that 75% of us agree.

That type of approval rating is scary!

I will be working in Minneapolis, MN, that week, followed by a week in Alburquerque, NM, so you won't have to worry about the British coming.

Have fun!

nice. Actually if you drink a ton of canned grapefruit juice before trying to load up on caffine it will help..

the chemical in grapefruit juice that makes it taste bitter loweres your tolerance of caffine, making it stronger.

the mo bitter.. the mo better.

Can't say I'd actually pick up my computer and physically bring it to your house, but I will pop in cause I'd hate to miss the chance you guys actually doing this, pictures just ain't enough. At the very least I'll be company to Fishy girlfriend....I'm assuming she'll stick around to see this, which is of course a big assumption.

I'd like to make it, but not sure if I'll be able to lift computer into my car.

Don't want internal organs busting apart again.
