Hey guys, I finished installing my front and rear Kartboy shifter bushings and now notice a more distinguished tranny whine noise. I've read other posts with most people saying this is totally normal. I'd feel better hearing from anyone with after-market bushings

Any hardened bushing will increase Noise, Vibration and Harshness. Shortened to NVH.

Totally normal.

The reason the OEM bushings are so soft is to prevent noise from entering the cabin, by absorbing the vibrations in the bushing. The downside is it also absorbs some of the movement of the shifter, resulting in sloppiness.

Unfortunately you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want a firm connection, it is always going to cause more noise.

and I would like a large black shirt.

Thanks! My wife borrowed the car this morning and she was the first to drive it since the install. She thought she did something to it lol.

I'll take you for a ride in my car next week, so you can hear what happens when you replace every soft rubber bushing in the car

LOL that would be great! It certainly gives the car a more WRC sound to it, feels like I'm in a Ken Block video (Trying to sucker Ryan into getting bushings/short shifter).

Once you get the bushing just swing by my shop and we'll get those installed for you I need to borrow a torque wrench as mine is still lost in boxes when I moved into the house <sigh>.

70 ft lbs for the x 4 cross member bolts maybe I should make sure my front bushing is exactly 7 ft lbs as well, but i'm not sure that would fit up there lol.

I've quickly updated the front page. (Sorry for the late replies to all the PM's as I did not notice them).

Lets try and get more Subaru owners out to the meet so we can keep growing

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and be safe on the roads.

Here's a video clip of what the Kartboy Front and Rear Shifter Bushings Sound like Makes it sound more like a WRC car (minus the UBER mods of course).
