Default Skyrim

Don't know how many of you follow the Elder Scrolls series, but Elder Scrolls V was announced earlier tonight.

Title: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Release Date: 11/11/11

Quote:
At the VGA awards moments ago, Bethesda's Todd Howard announced and dated the newest Elder Scrolls game. Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim will be available on November 11, 2011. We'll fill in the specific details as we get them, but until then, here's a little background on Skyrim. It's the the northernmost province of Tamriel, and home to the Falmer, or snow elves, a race that has seemingly died out, leaving behind only some hypotheses about their fate. Perhaps they inter-married with other races and the bloodline has been diluted enough to be gone... or perhaps there is another, more interesting explanation?
Maybe, just maybe, we'll find out in November!

Yeah, I'm excited as ****.

Seriously. You cannot go wrong with an ES game, and I freakin' loved Morrowind and Oblivion.

The only thing I ask is for them to include a better character creation system, but other than that, I'd be happy with a new setting and new quests. I'd also like it if they included more..exotic, mounts.

added the world premiere trailer in the original post.

On the other hand I hope that they get more than five character voices. Rumors I heard were they were wanting to try an mmo, but I doubt it will be.

****. Yes.
My only concern is that they pull an Oblivion and have basically the entire game open at once. I lost track of so much **** and got so lost that I gave up on that game in frustration.
Morrowind was perfect in that regard.

I actually quite enjoyed how open it was and so soon, it got a little confusing at times if you didn't read every piece of dialogue, but it wasn't too hard to stay on target.

The Fin Gleam trick helped when you wanted to make some moolah early too on your subsequent playthroughs.

A graphically updated Morrowind would be perfect

I'm an ADD poster boy and a detail-oriented perfectionist. It was ****ing maddening.

I hope Bethesda takes the elements that worked so well in the Fallout series and adapts them (Perks, Combat System, and a REAL Quest Interface) - then you'd be flirting with perfection.

bump

Because this needs to be bumped. I saw this as it was being broadcast during the VGA's. I know what I'm doing on Thanksgiving next year.

YES. I hope they learn a lesson from Obsidian's work on New Vegas and actually hire more than 2 people to do voices for this one. You'd think between Oblivion and Fallout 3, they'd have enough scratch to hire enough people that every single character in the game world doesn't sound exactly the same.

I can't wait. I have over 200 hours in Oblivion.

I'll wait a while before I'd buy though. Got screwed out of a few quests because of a bug on the 360. The PC version you could just reset the quest via console. Not so much on the 360.

I hope whatever graphics engine they'll ultimately use for TES5 will be as modable and flexible as TES:O was (errr.. is. It's unbelievable how many mods are still being released for TES:O.)

My fear is that they'll release an engine that's hard to work with (a la UT3) and the mod community goes lame, which is sort of what happened with UT3.

That's why you don't buy the console version, duh.

They'd be stupid to ditch the Embryo engine for something else off the shelf. Yeah, they've gotten a lot of flak for Embryo, but the modding community has made it something special, and they'd be stupid to forsake that.

Given the relatively short timeframe, I guarantee it's going to be an incremental development from Oblivion/FO3.

I hope so, but I recall from the tesnexus site that the dev team was considering using the Unreal engine. I can't access the site from here, but I was gravely unamused by that comment.

Woot!

And as Predwolf said, I'm in regardless, but I'd love a better character creation system.

UDK is one of the most intuitive sdk's out there. The reason the mod community didn't flock to it is because UT3 totally sucked.

I hope this game isn't using the same gamebryo engine, it is getting a bit old in the teeth.

I am guessing/hoping they are using CE3 or UE.

I would like to see them just fix all the obvious that has plagued oblivion & the fallout series: horrible character animation & horrible voice acting.
