Lightbulb If I were in charge of Ford/GM/Chyrsler, I'd get to work building the world's most...

...practical car. I don't mean a domestic "Tata" $4,000 car. I mean a vehicle with the sole intention of having the lowest total cost of ownership combined with superior reliability and utility.

Instead of bluetooth, it would have a hand-crank that could be operated from inside the vehicle in case the battery dies.

Instead rich corinthian leather, every surface of the interior would either be removable for machine washing, or could be wiped clean.

Instead of wireless headphones, its radio would operate on both commercial AM/FM bands, but also the weather advisory, marine, and CB bands.

It would would be loud at high speeds, but it would sport run-flat tires. It would ugly, but it would have 110V AC power outlets. It would lack power moonroof, but it would have an emergency beacon that uses GPS and E-911 technology to call for help without having to pay for any sort of subscription. It would be designed to be maintained using as few different tools as possible (Remove the battery? Hand me the 10socket. Oil plug? Hand me the 10mm socket.) It would be hard to pick up chicks with, but once you did, the handcuffs would keep them from getting out!

and then the Japanese would come out with a better, cheaper version...and me and 3,4589,765 other people would rather buy that...

You've gone spunk drunk. The rare condition where, by not draining your balls periodically, you go mad.

Correct. Use of the words, "Corinthian leather" indicate severe case of blue balls.

For as...asinine...the OP's suggestion is...those are some good points.

It would be called the People's Car! No gas gauge to break. When it runs out of gas you'd pull a handle on the dash that would access the "emergency" 1 gallon tank.

I don't know the code for hidden text. I'm 90% sure my dad's OG VW bug did that.

Who knows maybe since Fiat now owns 35% of Chrysler (as of yesterday) maybe well see more small economical cars on the road offering more choices asides from just mainly asian cars.

Both Nissan and Hyundai offer sub-10K brand new cars with ABS, airbags, and pass all current safety and emmission standards, a pedigree and a warranty.

If a consumer cant afford that, they cant afford it.

That's why they make used cars.

Who makes used cars? And how do they make them? Build a new car then pass 'em out to bums for 2 weeks before shipping them to the dealership?
