ScoobySnacks,

Where the hell did that come from? Care to explain the background to your rant? It's too broken to really make sense of what you're trying to say.

I'm not saying you're right or wrong it's just that all of a sudden you're posting here and not really putting together a full story for us to read and respond to.

Confused...

I believe that this is in regards to the guy who made som eengine mods that irvine subaru said would be fine. He then shredded his first gear and wanted it to be fixed under warrenty. SOA denied the claim due to "abuse" and he is mad at irvine for them telling him that these mods would not affect his warrenty, adn that they would stick by him. I understand that he modified his engine, and thats the reason for the failure, but he is angry at Irvine subaru for being rude to him throughout the entire process. He cited examples of rudeness on their parts at the time of purchase and countless other infractions when he brought the car back. From what he said, all he wanted was for Irvine Subaru to stand by their word and help him out with this. if there is nothing they can do, then they should have mentioned this at the time of telling him that mods are "ok". Now he has a 26000 dollar car that he cant drive, and no one will fix.

The point of this "rant" is to show that for performance parts and other things of the like, dont go to this dealer... For the reasons cited above... There is another post in the general forum, i believe the link is http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Forum1/HTML/022359.html

Hope this helps... I agree, if you want tuner parts, go to a tuner. If you want dealer parts and dealer customer service, go to a dealer. or thats just me....

I spoke earlier of how my car went down at Irvine Subaru. This whole thing makes me want to sell my car and go back to Honda. All I ever wanted was to fix my car. I have broken many tranny's in my hatchbacks and never once did Honda even tell me that they couldn't fix it. All I want is for them to fix it so I can move on with my life. I am neither a snotty nosed kid, or rich. I paid for it out of some money that I won in court over an accident that was not my fault. I merely bought the car because I really felt that Subaru was family oriented and that they would help me out. I am disappointed and hurt about the whole situation. I now regret ever buying the vehicle and being part of this GREAT family.

have you tried to take the car to another dealer to see if they are willing to give you the warrenty?
if one place give you such hassel just go to another dealer for service and warrenty work.
you don't have to stick with the dealer that you bought your car at...
hope this helps

I wan to take my car out but they won't give it back to me because they say I owe them money. I never told them or signed anything that says I would be responsible for the work done.

It's an implied contract-- you drop the car off for service, they did it. Turns out that the service is not covered under your factory warranty, so guess what-- you owe them for inspection / diagnosis.

If they conclude that the damage done was not the result of *normal* operation then you have nowhere to turn but litigation.

If you think you can get the car out of there without paying the diagnostic charge, you're mistaken. A judge might reduce the amount but I assure you they are legally entitled to compensation for their time spent on your car.

The presence of the boost controller does you in. You have no right to claim this as warranty work because it's NOT FREE-- everyone else driving a Subaru is paying for that warranty coverage.

Should the gearbox have failed? Maybe not. Could it be defective? Well it's a little hard to convince anyone of that when you have a boost controller installed, isn't it?

Pay up, and learn from this mistake.

And Chrisube/Scooby Snacks-- it's a little hard to respect your opinion when the chief basis of your argument is attacking the character of the individuals involved.

I really should stay out of this, but here goes.... Chris is the man that started this part 2 of the Irvine Subaru ranting. Chris is a bragart, flake, and from time to time, liar. Oh ya, I said it, liar. Only now does he admit his turbo kit is from ASR. At the y2k auto show in Anahiem, he claimed it was his kit alone. He calls his block a 22b block, when it is a legacy turbo block. He offers ej20 motors for sale, and totally flakes. He did infact start Flatline originally, and I agree with his opinion of Ryan sometimes. Ripping on Don and Kian is uncalled for and rude. While I do agree that Kian was a little out of line regarding the man's tranny, you don't know jack about his tunning ability. Can YOU tune a stand alone ecu? Kian can! You aren't even using any engine management at all on your RS. I heard it was impounded and sold off, is this true? Where is my motor you promised? Why don't you respond to emails anymore?

I haven't been on this forum for very long

but speaking as a newbie

I don't know if I will be doing any business or not with Irvine Sube in the future

(I'll wait to see how the story unfolds first)

But, I do know that I don't think I'll be doing any business with

CTR Turbos and Performance
Renick Motorsports

For another company to come out with a venomous and personal slam like that

is Very unprofessional and doesn't present me with a high opinion of them

By the way, Ebarkho actually admitted to drag racing the car when it happened, and SOA denied him, not Irvine.

Yes it is true SOA DENIED THE WARRANTY, they saw the tranny, and they guy admitted he was drag racing it, and the called him on it, he was fully informed of the situation BEFORE HAND!

CHRIS, listen, you are a lying sack of $%^*, you try and sell false products under false descriptions, and sell a turbo kit that was entirely ASR's as your own. As for being a "kiddy in the subaru" **** you, I have more intelligence and maturity then you will ever have, although this post doesn't reflect it. You have brought out the worst in me, and I regret that others have to see it...
and you still OWE ME MONEY, so either PUT UP OR SHUT UP!
OH yeah weren't you the ass who broke about 3 trannies within a month or so, and then totalled your car on the Freeway trying some half assed stunt? UMMM I think so!
Then you still haven't paid ASR for THEIR kit,
and your car got impounded because you can't drive and aren't responsible enough to get a life and make a living for yourself the honest way...
Aren't you still driving grannies car?

Hey, as long as it's going to cost you about $4K, you might as well try to swing a deal where they can put in one of those STi 6-speed gearboxes. Sounds like a bad scene, and I've been hearing reports of WRX gearbox fragility. Prodrive apparently says that about 260hp is what the stock gearbox can handle without having "issues."

Question

Well, I'm not quoting a specific person at Irvine Subaru. But I was told that the WRX could handle a LARGER amount of horsepower than the 2.5RS models.

SO, are the tranny's different between the current MY02 WRX and 2.5rs models?

If I were you little guy, I'd call them and ask the amount to be reduxced so you can pick up your car, and have it fixed some where like B-Spec=better tranny rebuild rate. They will do it for $400, get a gear set from them ($2200 to 2800). It may take you a while but take that route. Hope you havent burned all your bridges at the dealership, and next time dont be so gullible. You know car dealerships. I have mods, but when/if my tranny lets go I'm just gonna pick up and upgrade set of gears.

Ebarkho:

Dealers are not in the business of being aftermarket-friendly. They aren't even in the parts business, really. Their main goal is to sell cars and keep the people that buy cars from them happy so that more people will buy cars from them.

Coming back to a Subaru service tech (who is an accessory the dealership provides) and demanding that they fix your car after you've added aftermarket parts and inflicted some abuse on it means, to the dealership, that not only are they going to lose time, money, and labor on fixing your car, you're also probably going to be angry and you're probably going to be back. There's no reason for them to do a damn thing to help you.

That sucks, but we all effectively give SOA the finger when we heavily modify our car with aftermarket parts. The warranty is a contract we agree to and they offer. Your only power here is to not buy the car in the first place; otherwise you have to accept the terms you agreed to, no matter how much they may suck.

It actually surprises me that the salesman wasn't more of a help to you. Salesmen tend to be more inclined to help because they're not doing the work. Plus, they make money when you reccomend them. I guess that your sales guy was extra oily.

If I were you, I would first call your Subaru rep and discuss your perceptions of the vehicle, dealership, and SOA. Offer real, constructive feedback. Maybe they'll help you out when they realize you're not just being petulant. I would especially complain to Subaru regarding the salesman who lied to you/owner who bitched at you and offered you a promise that wasn't theirs to keep. You're still going to have to pay, but at least the liar who misled you will get what he deserves.

Best of luck with your car. I hope everything turns out well.

I spoke truth and fact in my post. You have proven my point Kian. 1, I am working with Alan from ASR, I owe him no money, Irvine does. 2, my car was never impounded it was repoed when I was with Irvine(I got my car back). 3, I went through 1 tranny about every month or so. 4, No I'm not driving my grandma's car that I was very thankful to have when mine was gone. 5, I owe you money for an R/C car part. Please don't generate your own stories. Make sure there true and then its all good.
