I doubt they will but I'm hoping they release it for the AVH series. I have the AVH-X5600bhs

Those are European models. NEX is the only series which is getting the new firmware.

Just installed it, working on pulling it back off. The handsfree calling doesn't work right with it.

It doesn't seem to use the bluetooth, but is running it threw the USB cord.

It interface is pretty cool, but I'll stick to the standard Pioneer interface.

edit:
Haven't figured out how to pull back the update. I did have the FM radio start to cut out on me after the update as well. I did find out you can turn off the carplay feature. You go into settings phone settings and it is in there. You can also get to it by resetting the radio.

Carplay automatically overrides everything else. You can't use the head units bluetooth interface with the phone plugged into the USB.

I just ordered my 8000nex, excited to try this out if they can fix whatever issue it caused with hand free calling according to millertime's experience.

I use a mophie case. I'd have to unplug the damn case everytime I want to use it. I'd think it could do all this through airplay

I haven't tried using airplay, but I do know that as soon as I unplug the the phone from the dock cord, the carplay icon goes away. The bluetooth was turned on as well.

Has it been confirmed that you can use Apple maps navigation on the 4000 NEX while listening to music? there has been some debate on this.

I'll try it, and let you know. You can definitely listen to "Apple" music. Meaning iTunes Radio and your iPhone playlists etc. Not sure about using the actual radio.

CarPlay runs as an App/Input on the NEX, so to change to an FM station for example you have to exit CarPlay. I have a feeling Nav + FM/XM may not work, but NAV + iPhone music will. I'll try it and will follow up.

I have a 4000NEX and it works just fine. Only gripe I have is that when the voice commands for directions comes through, the audio doesn't fade gradually, it fades almost instantly. Minor gripe.

Music still plays with Nav. I've had issues where using the Music App in Carplay, nothing plays (the timers move, but no output). Plugging/unplugging resolves the issue.

I'm hoping it's a bug in CarPlay (and not Pioneer) since CarPlay is built into iOS 8, so Apple is much more likely to fix it quickly vs. Pioneer.

Has anyone else had the same issue I did with the handsfree dropping calls?

I went to the store, and played with it. Was very boring. Only stock apple apps showed up and spotify. Snore fest.

For me the nav would be the overwhelming reason to get this. Gps on our phone is light years ahead of any car system. More reviews, please!!

For those with the 4000NEX, do you have to be connected to the head unit via a wired connection to get car play to work?
If so, how are you achieving that? I see there are two USB ports on the head unit and from what I have read, you need to be connected to USB1 from your iPhone. USB2 is not car play compatible.

I have a 2015 WRX and I am trying to figure out what proprietary cables I need to buy from Pioneer, if any. If I buy SVXdc's USB adaptor for the centre console, does that mean that I can use my typical Apple lightning cable that comes with the iPhone 5s to plug the phone into the centre console USB?

The 4000NEX also comes with a USB cable. Do I plug that into USB2 and run that to the glovebox as a spare USB input for non-car play stuff? Or can I use that cable that came with the 4000NEX and plug into USB1 and then plug my iPhone 5s into that if I want to?

I am so confused about the pioneer cables...the CD-IU52 just seems to look like a regular lightning cable. The other cable, the Pioneer CD-IH202 seems to be closely related but not sure. When do you use these?

Thanks
(pioneer documentation sucks!)

I used the USB adapter from SVXdc to use the OEM USB port in the center armrest. It works with carplay. The only cable you need is a lightning cable.

Just installed a 4000NEX, compared the the Kenwood DDX771 I pulled out, it's a night and day difference. The Kenwood was horrible in every aspect, and the pioneer is fantastic in every way. Glad I spent the extra money.

But about CarPlay, you'll need to connect your iPhone via the standard Apple lightning cable, to the USB1 slot on the HU. I used the TOYUSB adapter to hook mine up.

Just got the Avic-7000NEX installed today and can't be any happier. The installer updated the unit and got everything setup for me. Upgraded from an Alpine IVA-W205. The connectivity of this new series of head units is just amazing. Pandora, HD Radio, Sirius XM, 64 gigs of MP3 on sim card and many other options I have yet to even figure out yet. The drive home was far too short, gonna have to go for a coastal run early tomorrow morning.

The only thing I can really complain about is the damned GPS informing me every few minutes of my "speeding"... Not had a chance to read the manual or play through the many different menus.

You can shut that off by going into navigation settings, lol I had the same complain. Also sign up avic411 its a very useful Pioneer forum. Enjoy

Yeah, the first time it said something I had to laugh at myself, don't need no stinking GPS informing me of my driving habits!

Thanks for pointing out the setting that needs to be changed.
