Moving to England-HELP
I was wondering if any of you guys out in England, could describe to me the differences between your WRX and the American model. Basically, I am thinking of moving my American WRX to England, and I understand I may need to do some adjustments (ie. rear fog light, no amber parking light). How much and how drastic are these modifications? Is it worth it to bring over? Thanks for your help...

It really isn't a big deal to make it meet British standards. You can do it yourself, or there are garages that will make the changes for you. I think the only big issues are the rear fog lights (easy- about an hour job), the beam pattern of your headlights (can be adjusted using stickers applied to the housings to block the glare), and the amber/red thing. I had my USDM Honda Civic shipped over and had no problems getting it legal.
BTW, are you military? Where in England are you going to be living? I lived there 5 years, so if you have any other questions PM me. |

I haven't seen a WRX during any of my trips to England, but the biggest difference would probably be the side the driver sits on. All of the cars I've seen across the pond are right hand drive. I imagine anything you would have to change on your car would be minor compared to driving on the wrong side of the road all the time.
Also, the price for gas will be MUCH higher in England. We have high gas prices now, but they still pay more per liter than we pay per gallon. On the bright side, there are a lot of fun (i.e. curvy) roads in England. Just make sure to dodge the sheep! |
