I just swapped in a 2.5L with RC 550s, so my old SR20DET 370cc sidefeeds are sitting unused. PM me if you're interested.

Thanks for the offer Jeff/Portly, but I just picked some up off of ebay w/ clips.

Since the last update I have finally gotten my piping from SC to AWIC made and installed. This new part is using the stock Mercedes part but cutting the tubing and welding it in a different dirrection and polishing the inner weld area. Also, the airflow is now a straight shot directly into the AWIC. Huge difference. While only a 1.5 psi increase, the air flows much better that I was suddenly horribly lean the moment I cracked the throttle with the SC on. While previously, as stated in my last post, I didnt need the extra fuel solinoid, I NEED it now. Hopefully the 370 cc injectors will remove it from the equation again though as the gas milage goes down, down down now to about 12 mph when having fun.

As for power, there is enough to keep me happy for awhile. I am pushing about 6.5-7 psi now and definately gets up and goes. The next step is to further modify the pulley ratio and get the psi up close to 10.

Hey Reddevil,

can you get pulleys made up relatively cheap? I need a smaller pulley for my s/c. Looking at getting maybe 2 experimental pulleys, a 2.25 and maybe 2.5. Like you im going to be shooting for 10 psi.

Let me know,

Not really. I make my own when I can. My big crank pulley cost me $240 labor and $75 or so in material (an underdrive pulley and large chunk of aluminium).

I would try searching the junkyards for small idler pulley and modifying them, or find a small machine shop.

Wow, this has been cool, like Mad Max said, welcome to the club. i'm really glad Joncas got me started in a huge way. Since i'm waiting for my car to get fixed(damn lawsuit), and the car is just chillin in my driveway, i've been workng on it alot. new awic/intake/sc output housing/ sc intake, all being reworked. and if you need pullies made, let me know,(goes for you too Max, long time no see btw) i got a guy that can do it for pretty cheap, i had 2 new pullies made, a 14 and a 5 psi. both for 250. keep up the great work, nice to see another guy with a custom sc working in his car. - IC

I dont want to sound like a hater so i will give you props on trying. You have allready done more then 95% of the people on this board could do. You really need to redesign you pulley setup. I saw the video you posted in another forum. You only have enough pulley wrap on your SC. You need more wrap on your crank pulley and altenator pulley. Looks like it wasnt even touching power steering? Slipping the belt IS NOT an effective way to control boost. Even with the larger crank pulley there is no need to change the alt pulley. You wont spin it too fast. It looked like the idler on the drivers side was riding on the inside on the belt, and it didnt looked ribbed. Thats not good. It also looked like your SC mount was just a flat plate of aluminum? If thats the case it will break from fatigue, you need a bracket from the top of the SC to the engine. Once you get the pulley straighten out you should be able to run 14psi on pump with a ITC, rrfpr and a SAFC. I ran 14psi on my old 2.2L-T with just those for engine management.

Cool project keep working on it.

Thanks,

The only real pulley I had made was the big 7.25" crank pulley. I also made a larger alternator pulley myself but didnt do that good a job. Sorry.

I believe that setup would make the STi 6MT cry and part itself out.

Hey IC,
Your the one who bought Joncas's SC ?
If you are, well Im cursing you. It was the nicest SC setup I've seen. And good price to boot.
Sometime this year I will be in the club. Also with a '00.
What CFM's are you guys pushing? Your always talking PSI. But higher isnt always better.

I was prepared to go and find an m62 to try this on my 2000 RS, until i realized that the abs module and lines might be in the way. Is it possible to mount the blower? Would an extension to move the blower back a little ways clear the abs module? Looking for solutions, and I need some help, please.
Thanks, Josh

If you relocate your battery, then you should be able to mount the SC on the right side.

MadMax- isnt your m62 on the same side as Reddevil's with the ABS unit there? Is it just mounted closely to the engine? I have been looking all over nasioc and rs25.com for engine bay pics of your setup that I once saw but have been unsuccessful. Could you paste a link or post some more??

I "successfulley" installed the bigger and better stepper pulley today, or should I say this evening. I started at 9 pm and drove out at 11 pm.

The new stepper pulley is giving me slightly less than a 2.5 to 1 ratio so I am getting 9 psi of boost. For about a second. Either I have a boost leak or I am slipping a belt because as the rpms climb, the boost declines. Damn it all to HELL!!!!!

What is really frustrating is that I DID NOT have this problem when I had the first poorly mounted pulley installed. I had 10 psi start to finish on the first pulley until its unfortunate demise, and everything is the same this time around exactly, except for the new pulley, which is much better made (or so I think).

If it is a boost leak, it is just a $20 bill away from being fixed, as I do need to get a slightly longer 2" silicone hose now because the existing one is in a comprimised position.

If it is a slipping belt, well hell, how much can you tighten the damn thing?!!?

The symptoms are.... Boost starts right at 9 psi, then slowly declines down to 4-5 psi. I smell burning rubber. I am not using Dayco PolyCog belts (the best damn belts around).

So my prediction is slipping belts. Once I replace the belts with Dayco Polycog belts, I suspect I will have my full 9 psi of boost.

if your setup is the same as the first posts pictures, i will, without a doubt agree with the belt slippage. there is very little belt wrap on the pulley, and i can see the issue is worse because of the rad hose in the way. from all the other chargers available to other cars on the market, along with personal experience, it is advisable to have at least a 50% wrap on the pulley. just a thought.
