Anyone have any inside info about what's going on? I have called and spoke with christiensen oil but I don't think I'm getting the the whole story.

This is why I store it in my garage I have 15 gal I will gladly sell you $100 including the 3 canisters. That's why I tell people e85 is a way of life not a fuel choice. You have to plan around filling your car up and taking the risk the only station will actually have fuel when you get there.

I talked with Christensen oil and they said that their e85 comes out on a train. And they haven't gotten a shipment in a while. The lady assured me it was an isolated incident.

She lies Ryan. I have been on e85 for over 2 years and it happens about every 3 months or so.... Someone is waiting for something they blame it on each other. I have Chevron on speed dial on my phone lol. They all lie.
Be carefully switching back and forth. I always make people run at least 2 tanks through before I will tune on e. Switching back and forth will give you a ****ty mix in your tank. You can burn your motor up switching back and forth pretty easy. AND Jason, I am not a BAWLER like you. I can't afford 110 all the time I fill up twice a week as it is. I would be broke in a month. |

I think you're right about them lying.
I guess I have just had good timing in the past because I have been on e for over 2 years and this is the first time clearfield has been out for more than a day or two when I needed it, granted I only fill up every 10 days or so. As for being cautious with map switching, thats a good idea but I'm not too worried. My tune is conservative enough and I always log after a fill up. |

I can't afford that jason. I drive 500 miles a week or so. That would be an extra 240 a month in gas I don't want to spend.

Just an FYI, i make 21 mpg on e85 and 25 on 91. That's a 16% loss. e85 is $2.999/ gal here in denver and 91 is $3.849. So, it costs 14.2 cents per mile on e85 and 15.4 cents per mile on 91. E85 also is the equivalent of 105 octane. Sounds like the better deal to me lol.
Also, 110 is approximately 32 cents per mile assuming $8/gal. EDIT: So, I figure the difference between e85 and 100 over 500 miles, it will cost about $90 a week more to run 110 than e85. Last edited by 08WhiteRex; 11-13-2011 at 08:08 PM. |

i really have been struggling to get why you are trying to argue running 110 "isn't that bad". if that's what you want to do, then go for it, but the math does not make sense, or your view of "not that bad" is very much different than mine.

no scrounging for gas cans then taking those cans 45 miles to find out the pump is broken. then taking those cans another 60 miles to find some fuel then packing them up and taking them to the track where if you dont bring enough then your sol. but you're a good boy scout so you're always prepared. me, i drive a mile or less from my house or work to get fuel. go to the track and run out? they have it on pump there too. plus it smells better and its purple. who can argue with purple. |

Off the rev limiter all the way to work today! I can feel the money in my pocket expanding. I am scared to turn my car up any more than it is. If I had a built block then YES, but stock internals and 107,XXX miles makes me nervious. Besides my 1000cc injectors are maxed out maybe in the spring I will revisit it all again. |

Wait, how did you do the math on that? e85 is ~106 octane. How is that going to make more power than 110? at our altitude it's the fuel that limits us with detonation, which 110 will be less prone to it.

either way it's way more than I can afford to pay. I'm fine with the e85 I keep enough on hand to not have any problems and it's cheap to run.

i see youre still a noob when it comes to tuning and making power on different fuels.e85 has a lower octane but what about the cooling effect, lower egt etc? E85 any day of the year over a Sunoco or even a VP 110. I've made similar and more power on E85 than C16 on multiple cars.' IF YOU WANT PROVE I WILL SEND DYNO SHEETS e85 vs 110 and e85 vs c16, e85 made more power every single time. |
