You're planning to DD a fully prepped race car. Good luck with that.

I use to think I could DD a caged track car, but after Earnhardt, I don't even like that my son's baby seat has a five point harness...

Stuff like that yeah :P. I' want to show up with my 15k vehicle and put those cars to shame. If they class it as fully race prepared, the owners can just chalk it up to that instead of the fact that this cheapo kit car using tons of oem subaru parts embarrassed them.

Street cars (and rally cars) have crumple zones. NASCAR frames basically don't. The 818 allegedly does. Since nobody wants to put their infant into a helmet with a HANS, it's currently recommended to keep children rear-facing until they're 2 years old to prevent neck/spinal injury. After that the crumple zones on your street car combined with a rigidly attached seat & tight harness will keep your kid much safer in an accident than they would be by any other means. If you've never even been to a track day, it's pretty easy to imagine how racing works and be completely wrong. |

Lolwut? Also, just because people choose to be civil doesn't mean they aren't thinking the same thing. People are all nice on the surface at events like SCCA but deep down they want to win. That or they know they won't win but they enjoy it anyways. I never see the point in getting involved with something like this without at least unrealistically aiming for the top and daydreaming.

I plan to DD my S, but it's the S, not the R. It doesn't have the head crushing roll bar next to your fact. If I did DD an R, I'd wear a helmet all the time, which on the street could cause it's own problems with distracting other drivers and your own ability to see. I have a picture of my envoy towing a landscape trailer with my fmod on it parked in front of a massive Semi truck style motor home (bigger than my envoy and trailer combined) pulling an eclosed trailer. I took FTD that day. Nothing feels better than knowing that your skill with meager finances was better than someone elses money and skill. |

Oh Hello!
First part off the truck! Hanging by a thread! Vroom Vroom! YES I'M SHOUTING WITH EXCLAMATION POINTS AFTER EACH CAPTION!!! Chassis #15. Chassis number is assigned at pickup, probably why it's not 10 or something as it sat there for 2 weeks. 15 is a nice round number though. Too bad I have to go to work now. |

Stupid phone. Asked permission to make a nasioc project car thread but never heard back and wasn't sure where such a build thread would be besides OT.

Right, completely forgot about that. I don't frequent the gallery much at all mainly bucause of what Doug said.
That said, I started a thread and posted a few time lapse videos already including the original teardown video. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2536387 |
