Default Info STi Oil Pan on WRX

I have decided to make this post to help others who are intersted in this since I found several posts with conflicting or bad information.

The STi oil pan was installed to allow fitment of the APS Equal Length Header. I do not know if the STi pan has better baffling to prevent oil starvation or not.

Updated with part numbers and more pictures. If anyone has pictures of the inside of a STi Oil pan it would be appreciated. We did not get pictures at that stage for some reason.

Enjoy

Parts Needed

STi Oil Pan P/N: 11109AA131 List Price: $108.50
STi Oil Pickup P/N:
STi Dip Stick P/N: 11140AA120 List Price $19.13
Baffle P/N:

STi on Left (Inside it has a screen but is hard to photograph)

It's hard to tell from the photos... would you say there is a definite oil starvation prevention advantage (like the oil baffle) with the sti parts?

It keeps the oil near the oil pickup tube during hard cornering and possibly also prevents splashing.

good post !

do you have the parts # for all the above necessary to install EL headers ?

oil pan, baffle, dip stick, oil pickup

that would be a great add to the "header FAQ"

Thanks.

How much do you have to disconnect to lift the motor and get at all the pan bolts? I'm planning on doing this too.

When we did this swap we actually got the oil pans swapped without lifting the block, however it was very hard to do this. Most likely to lift the block you'd need to take off the headers, loosen the motor mounts and disconnect the pitch stop. That should give you a good area to work with, you could lift the engine by jacking on the foward part of the transmission that way.

Good info. I stumbled across this thread as I too will be doing this VERY shortly. Do you guys recommend any sealant or is there a gasket for the oil pan??? Any other gaskets or sealant needed? I am thinking of doing STI motor mounts while I am down there. (oil pan gives me an excuse to do it) Going twinscroll!

I also forgot to ask if anyone knows the torque specs of all the bolts during the sti oil pan swap?

The oil pan has no gasket you will need something like Permatex Ultra Grey RTV. Pretty easy to find at any auto part store.

Tq Specs....I think are something really low like 7 ft lb

You need the pickup since the oil pan is shaped diffferently. You then need the baffle since it is shapped differently to accomodate the pickup. I do not have part numbers sorry

I am the OP. Sorry I dont have the P/N's I got those parts for free and did not have to order them from the dealer. Just go to your dealer and have them look everything up for you...

I recently did this install along with all new groupn motor and tranny mounts. I could not get the oil pickups on by themselves, I had to hold them up there WITH the oil pan. A real pain. Even couldnt remove the oil pan without taking the oil pickup off. Any of you guys have the same issue?

Do you know what is holding or preventing the oil pickup to be removed from the oil pan or vise versa? It looks the oil p/u is connected first, then baffle, then oil pan? Can you confirm? Thanks.
