You pegged it Dave! Wireless technology is superfluous and is just begging to find a viable application.

That's right, I'm calling you a Luddite.

I got it for Diablo when it released. Was worth it for that for sure. I never use those buttons outside of that game though. Wireless/wired feature is nice and the mouse feels good.

I picked up a cheaper razr for work. Has only two side buttons, no light but still feels good in the hand. Much better than a standard Dell mouse.

I use a wireless mouse for my laptop, which connects to a wireless network. I use wireless keyboard/mouse combo for my DVR. Those make sense. A wireless keyboard and mouse for a stationary tower that said keyboard and mouse are <5 feet from anyway? Not so much.

I don't know a single person who uses a stationary tower. It's all laptops, all the time. Due to the idiotic layout of my office's power and cat5, my laptop is almost 10 feet away from where I actually work.

What a crock of horse ****.

You don't know a single person who uses a tower... You must work in a giant beanbag-filled warehouse or Google or something.

I'm using one right now... At work, where there are hundreds of people using stationary towers. We're not exactly a low-tech company, either.

the battery in the mouse itself is just an enerloop battery. buy an enerloop pack with charger and youll be good to go by just swapping the battery with no need to plug the mouse in.

define eat batteries? mine last for days with constant use (9 hr work day).

I work in a small satellite office with about 10 employees. The headquarters is in NYC and has about 100 employees. The only ones with towers there are administrative assistants. We're not exactly high tech, maybe that's the reason I don't need more computing power than my 4 year old HP EliteBook. It runs Google Earth and handles gigabyte Excel and CAD files just fine. In my office everybody takes their work with them on the road, at home in the evening and on weekends. I can't imagine having to be in the office every time I needed a computer.

+1 for the logitech g700 for my gaming laptop. plug it in at the house, disconnect on the road.

i dont mind the battery life, as i use the touch pad for browsing which is 70% of comp use

So you don't know anyone outside of work, then.

We don't generally hang out around computers. I honestly couldn't tell you what kind of computers my friends have.
My wife has one of those iMac thingies that came with a wireless dongle and piss poor excuse for a keyboard. It is far slower than my 4 year old HP laptop and a pathetic excuse for a PC...so I stand corrected. I do know somebody with a stand alone computer.
