2003 wrx tranny
was headed to a local car show last sunday and my clutch pedal went to the floor bunch of crazy sounds and immediately knew throwout bearing took a crap. well ive also noticed that i have a slight scratch in 4th gear wether im at low or high rpms which could mean syncros going bad. so basically im asking advice on what should i do.should i try and repair the tranny or possibly look at gettin a better built one. just wanna make sure i do it right and resolve this problem.

If its a slight grind when going into fourth gear, simply switching transmission oil to one that's better for synchros could take care of the problem. IMO, it's not worth taking apart the transmission for something like that.
I'd say fix the slave/release bearing, change the oil (search for Scotty's Cocktail) and see if that helps the problem. Brandon |
