Post Just pick up car from Rallispec! (turbo)

Now let me start by saying I know nothing about turbos. Just that they make lots of power. I have a my00 rs coupe and ordered this kit from JC Sports three weeks ago.(used) Thats why i got it so quick. Gave it to Rallispec on friday and picked it up today, which is Sunday. Let me tell you that Dave and Andy are the best and i mean the best. My engain compartment looks so neat and tidy. They relocated my CC and did a few other mods to get it right. They said that since it was a 00 that the map sencer would only read 2-3psi. They also said they have a fix for it, but will have to wait till i get the FPR. JC Sports forgot to send the FPR, so till i get that I'll have to wait on setting the boost to 7psi. With all that said I am very pleased with the kit and even more pleased with Dave and Andy from Rallispec. Now with the map problem the car still pulls very well, but has lots of hesatation(sp?) when the boost gos above 2-3psi. I think the best part is when you let off the gas and the BOV releses. so cool. I also have the Rallispex exhaust 2.5" with Magnaflow muffler. Now this exhaust is very loud. Had it for a couple of months. Its now almost as quite as stock. So thats it for now. Will let everyone know how its going after i get the FPR. Which better be soon. Nate.

Oh yeah, Rallispec kicks a$$!!!!!

Thumbs up

Hey Nathan- lookin' good! I bet they could give you an opinion on what viscosity oil to run with your turbo setup.

Tom- My folks live in Sewell, NJ. When we go up there we have to go to the Deptford Mall at least once.

Next time we go up there I'm gonna have to swing by RalliSpec and check it out.

wouldn't a 2.5" exhaust be a little small for a turbo, or is it large enough? an exhaust that would work well with both N/A and turbo would be of particular interest to me.

mite be a little large for N/A. I lost some bottom end power when i put it on. If you stay with N/A, go with 2.25".

Nice setup. Can't wait until you get all your parts put on and you can give us a better impression of what the car has to offer. Any thoughts on upgrading the IC to a larger unit or maybe even a FMIC? What turbo kit did you get? Is it the T28 or the IHI refurbished units that they were selling for a while?

Looks nice Nate. I stopped by their shop and looked at your kit a couple of times after leaving an event at Atco Raceway. I have been ranting and raving about how good those guys are for awhile now. It's because of them, my turbo/NOS setup haven't blown my engine to pieces by now. They do a good job.

Hope everything goes well for you once you get your FPR. You got your turbo just in time for the cold weather. Now, you will really be flying.

I just checked the Rallispec site again, and to my suprise, I saw specs on their new turbo kit and everything that will be included therein. I was glad to see a complete exhaust and intake as part of the kit as a whole, since it will be tuned to those specs and not to some other companies intake and exhaust. 3" of exhaust as well. I dont mind the price ($6500-$7500) since installation is included, and I know how well they take care of their customers. I really can't wait for one of these kits to hit the streets and get some good performance numbers...

edit: can't spell!

The 2.5" exhaust is a bit of a limitation on the turbo, but it is not a show stopper. I have it on mine and would like to upgrade to a 3". Also, if you plan on staying NA, 2.25 is the way to go. I lost a bit on the low end with the 2.5" before my car was force fed.

I'm waiting for the GB to ship anyday now. The thing I can't find is a quiet 3" exhaust. I might go with a Apex'i RS reries but not some straight throug design, I want a sleeper, that is if I go above 7psi. If not, I'll get a 2.5" exhaust.

Any ideas?
