Post Anyone have any experience with Sylvania Cool Blue bulbs?

Are they much brighter than stock? Basically is the difference worth it? Pep Boys, $14.99 each. They advertise a "whiter" light and better vision. The package must be torn open to get the bulb out, so I think return is out of the question. Thanks

Ya, I had them on my Legacy and my friend had them on his V8Q. They do look a little better and shine whiter light, but there is no improvement in visibility that I can see. If anything it decreased a litte, but I'm not a very good judge since me Legacy had some really bright PIAA driving lights that I always used. In this case you get what you pay for.

I had a pair on a Volvo Turbo, and there was minimal to no improvement. I'd save yourself the trouble and get a set of PIAA replacement bulbs, they improve visability a lot.

Don't expect HIDs for $20. They are not yellow but for damn sure aren't blue.

Do you get a lot of people flashing their high beams at you? I'd like to get blues on my car but I don't need people constantly flashing their high beams in my eyes.

I tried them...like most ppl, I didn't notice a too big of a difference in visibility over stock. And they definatelt aren't "blue".
Get PIAAs. They're a whole lot better.

LOKI: I put the PIAA super plasmas in 'bout a month ago. I haven't had one single person flash me yet.
But when I'm driving around in the wife's car (Acura 3.2 TL), it has HIDs and I get flashed constantly.

I had those bulbs in for a week.
One of them went to hell. I guess it burned itself pretty easily.
I have been driving around in Arctic White (name lies, they are blue) Nokyas for 6 months now, and I never got flashed.

Just my $0.02

i had em for a few months and they worked ok..the visibility was for crap though.

they only lasted about 4 months though.

Those are my favorite bulbs. They last longer than PIAAs or RAZOs (from my experience), and they are only $20-30 / pair. I used use RAZOs, and they were much whiter than Silvanias, but they cost $75 and they died quickly.

They are slightly whiter than stock. You'll see the difference when you put the Silvania bulb on one side, and stock on the other. There isn't any increased visibility. It's just whiter.

I haven't had anyone flashing at me because of these bulbs.

i have had them for almost a year, and i think they are pretty good. the high beams are great, especially with the fogs w/ high beam mod.

i just got Hella Yellowstars 85w for my fogs last month and they are pretty good also.

I have something similar on my 2000 Outback. They might put out slightly more light than stock halogens, but the only substantial difference is the color temperature of the light. It is closer to actual white. You can see the difference if you mount one of each. The halogens definitely have a more yellow cast. Don't expect a huge increase in visibility, though. If you really want more light, you can install higher wattage bulbs, but you should note 2 things: 1) this may be illegal in your state. 2) you may need to replace the wiring harness so that the wires don't melt from the higher current.

Lightbulb

The Cool Blues are not bad for the price. If you're looking for a bright and dependable bulb, try the Philips Vision Plus. I have them in my Forester and they are noticeably brighter than the stock bulbs, Hella Premium bulbs and Cool Blues. I believe they were something like $30 from Autolamps-Online.com.

Don't use high wattage bulbs!! I had yellow star 85W in my Legacy's fog light and the bulbs already burned the center lens.

I don't even turn them on that often!!

I had a set of them, they look cool but the visibility is worse. And just wait till you drive in the rain with them, you might as well just drive without any lights on.

I didn't like them. When I was at a local kmart I was very tempted to by some all weather bulb that was for snow and rain I think may have been similiar to hella yellow star. They were like 15 bucks each!
