So found out what made my car sounds like two squirrels fighting in my engine bay
so I decided to rip down my block today and what I found was just what I thought I would find. Spun bearing... Bummer deal. so I guess I'll send the crank in to be machined down, Order some some new ACL bearings once we find out how much material needs to be removed to get it back smooth. get the block hot dipped and cleaned up. new seals, piston rings and put it all back together should be like new again.
not really supposed to look like this.

Wow, you did an even better job on yours than I did on mine!
I mean, we're supposed to use those bearings up to get our money's worth, right? |

Heh, I didn't recognize the sound at first, so I proceeded to drive the car at WOT for another 10 minutes after it first started. Oops. Nothing like 7000RPM with a 280F oil temp on 4 spun bearings...

The questions everybody is dying to ask are... How long do you warm it up in the morning? and What kind of oil do you use? Edit: My apologies tho man that sucks!

Well, how long isn't the right question about warming it up.
The ideal warm up is to let it idle for 30 seconds or so, blip the throttle to about 50% of redline twice or so, then drive it gently while keeping it under 3kRPM until the oil temp goes over 180F. Just sitting and letting it idle for any long length of time is bad for the oil and engine. |

Have you replaced the bottom end ever or you just keep rebuilding the same one?

So a hone and you rebuilt it, right? To be serious, though, why does that block have so much rust in it? |

So what do you think is killing your motors? low oil? cavitation? bearing starved from high g loads?
Did you upgrade your oil pump on any of these engines? |

I agree cranks are cheap and then you know it is right also easier to get it all perfect again too.. just put in and go.

The 7mm oil pump will make 20psi/1kRPM on stock bearing clearances. That's more than enough flow. |

While the oil is cold, the engine is dying. You need to get the oil up to temp as fast as possible. However, if you were to go WOT (which would warm the engine up really fast), the engine would start dying much faster. If you leave it at idle, the engine dies slowly for a long time. So you compromise by using a little throttle to get the oil warm faster but keeping the revs and engine load low to prevent the engine from dying faster.
