I use my hitch for bike rack, I would not tow with a car, for that I would use a truck.

I wonder why Amazon says that these aren't compatible with the 2012 Impreza.

Not sure, they are cone/taper/acorn style and the correct thread pitch. They will be here next Tuesday I will take pictures. Lifetime rust guarantee too!

It seems like a lot of things are "incompatible" according to Amazon

Guys, I was cleaning out my drop-in K&N Air Filter and I couldn't help but think... isn't there a lot of junk between my engine and the air? All that black rubber piping... there's other sections attached to it. What's all that there for? Would it be a good idea/would it improve performance to simplify that stuff by replacing it with normal hoses?

Oh, and if you couldn't already tell... quite the n00b when it comes to anything engine-related.

There was a member that changed that to a regular hose without the "junk" part of it. Italia490. His thread is called "Project baby STi"
He hasnt written in quite a while, and i tried to find the link for you but he has removed the pics. Check it out if you have time to search through it.

What's all that there for?
-To route cold air to the engine
-To quiet the intake
-To smooth out the air flow so the MAF sensor gets an accurate reading
-To house the MAF sensor

Probably not.

I see the MAF sensor housing. The K&N is working fine for me, but I couldn't help but think there might be more I could do. Any suggestions? Or should I stray away from any other options outside of the K&N Drop-in filter I'm running now?

K&n just tried to design an intake for one of the members here, they couldn't get it to run correctly and iirc there was ZERO power gain.

The intake design on this car is the most direct/best looking factory intake I have ever seen

Gotcha! I won't mess with it then!

Found something interesting/odd when putting my stock airbox back together. There's a round plastic ring molded onto the bottom of the airbox before the filter. It's also got some plastic clips near the bottom of it, but it just leads to a big empty void between the foglight and wheel well.

What's this there for?
