News Beating Photo Enforced Intersection ticket for running red light.

Hey!
My car got a ticket the other night when testing the new photo enforced red light on Denny in Seattle.
It showed up in the mail, and was for $101. There were three pictures of my car: one before entering the intersection, one right when starting the turn to turn left, and then one more of a closeup of my license plate
I don't like revenue producing schemes that serve no other purpose other than to burden citezens and fatten the wallets for the city/government employees. Did I mention that I really want a government job??? One of the few jobs that still offer a pension..... And they wonder why they have no money for roads, stadiums, mass transit, schools, parks, and everything else they are underfunded on, but they don't miss a penny when it comes to pay, benefits, and pensions.
Sorry for the rant!
Back to the ticket!
Fortunately, "a friend was driving" who lives up in Canada, and I just sent in the reply saying that it wasn't in my possession at the time, and gave my friends info- as that was what is required when putting the blame on someone else- her info was slightly modified, of course, so if they did waste the money and time to try to get a hold of him, they couldn't.
I just recieved a letter in the mail saying, "Your infraction has been cancelled."
Yay!!!!
Now there were three options to select on the back:
1. pay the fine
2. Admit that it was you and you commited the infraction, but try to contest it in court in front of a judge- did I mention that by requesting a hearing, you were automatically admitting to commiting the infraction?
3. Say you weren't driving the car at the time, and fill out the form to supply the out of country driver's info who was driving- I mean the person who was driving- hopefully it is someone with a foreign driver's license and they never have to worry about the ticket being issued in their name.
Fight the power!!!!!
I'm really not this rebellious!
There are two revenue generating photo enforced red light that I know of: The one on denny, and the one on 45th and Roosevelt in the U-district.
Anyway, don't run red lights!

Interesting. The options on the back make it sound like if you pay the fine or contest it, the ticket will actually go on your record. Was there some change to the law? Last I checked it was just a fine and nothing would go on your record.

Wow, u r kul dude. Seriously? I find it funny that you come to a public forum and are basically telling people how to commit fraud. It is obvious from your posts that you were the driver and then you are pinning it on a supposed "friend" with false information. Does your friend know you made him/her an accomplice to your escapade?

Sure, I can understand you don't like the law, but you broke it. You were in too much of a hurry to wait 2 minutes for the lights to cycle, so own up buddy.

Personally, I think all "ticket" threads should be banned. They are useless.

Well, were they at least good pics of your car?

I wish they had a camera that would take pics of your car rollin' down the freeway, then send them to you, just so you can have the picture. No ticket.

Oh yeah? Well.... YOU'RE useless

Seriously tho, ticket threads are important political speech, and should not be 'banned'.

Here is another hot tip!! Register YOUR car in your spouses name and Vice / Versa. Why? Because if the sex of the registered owner, does not appear to match the sex of the photographed driver, the citation will never even be issued in the first place.

You know how much that would cost us taxpayers with the current pricing scheme?

Atleast 10 mil a piece....for sure.

Honestly its too bad someone didnt have to pay the ticket.

Those redlight cameras are placed at intersections where people tend to run the red lights. I hate those people that just keep going 2 - 4 cars go after the light is red... This is to help reduce this type of thing, not just a money maker.

^^ I think what he meant was he said it was a "woman" driving on the contesting papers when his friend (who was driving) is really a guy.... In an attempt to throw them off.
I still wouldn't post this up on a public forum though....

Sorry my writing is terrible tonight..

<shortrant>
My front end got next to blown off because someone made a late run at a red light. Running a red light to save yourself the 45 seconds is such BS. I'm all for flexing the system when the burden of proof is on a prosecutor. Make 'em prove it. Thats just making them do their job, but to directly defraud the government who is really only trying to help you is pretty screwed up.

Yeah running red's FTL.
I have gone through a left turn on yellow that turned red right as my front bumper hit the cross walk before, and pulled over for that, but got off without a ticket.
I thought it was BS, but I guess when it's red, you're supposed to be out of the intersection 100%.

My friend, from canada is used to an entirely different traffic light system. The light had just turned from green to yellow when we entered the intersection. The pictures were taken from video camera footage. The law must be that you have to be totally out of an intersection by time the light turns red....
Russell Rogers, you are correct, Sir. The government accused me and tried to extort money from me for an infraction I didn't commit. They had no proof, I am innocent, and I will say what I want, where ever, and however! I wanted to share that if you didn't commit the crime, that there is a way out of it!
My ancestors fought for the freedom that all the ungratefull people who live in this country now enjoy. Is this what they dreamed of?
I don't think so! But at least the judicial system didn't just follow along with the greedy money making scheme producers that financed these cameras- and in turn are making everyone pay for it.
It does say on the ticket that it won't go on your record, so it is not intended for repremanding bad drivers, but just a scheme to produce more revenue. It doesn't get bad, unlicensed, or uninsured drivers off the road.
I will admit that I speed on the highway when the conditions allow, but on city streets, where most accidents happen, I drive within the laws- well, except for the california roll at a stop sign here or there- but that's the one exception.
I realize that I will get attacked here for saying, "I speed on the highway". So I will clarify: I go with the flow of traffic which is a lot safer than actually going the speed limit- even in the slow lane. The speed limits are out dated, the limits of modern day cars are higher in everyway. It would take the "average sports car" back from when our speed limits were created almost 300 ft to come to a stop from 60mph. My car can do that in 111 feet, it can stop from 80mph in 193 feet. (That was taken from the tests from Road and Track magazine from 06-2003.) back to my speeding: Sometimes all cars around me will be travelling at 80mph, 70mph, 65mph, or even 61mph and I will go with whatever the flow of traffic allows- it's all speeding!
To top things off, my car's speedometer is off, I've driven by the speed signs in kirkland enough to know that I have to be going about 38mph to make it say I am going 36mph- which is one mph faster than the posted 35mph. I was speeding.....
Everybody breaks laws- there isn't a single person alive that hasn't broken a law at any time in their lifetime. Have you ever driven to the store a mile away only to get there and realize you forgot your driver's license? That's breaking the law! Have you ever walked outside in public without an state or government issued id?
Sorry! All I was intending on doing was sharing information. I'm not going to give everyone here the correct detailed specifics, post up my ssn, give up my friend's name. To insure that I didn't give too much detail, as this is a public forum, I left some things obscure as to not make it possible for a good Canadian driver- whether it be a HIM or a HER- to be have to worry about anything.
I feel for the focus driver that was hit, nobody deserves that. Well, some people do have Kharma coming for them....

The pictures weren't the best of my car, actually rather poor quality.... But it was taken from a video camera.
I could give rebuttals to all the comments, but I'll just say that I hope my initial post helps anyone who needs help in the future.
OJ simpson, wrote a book about getting away with murder- the difference is, I didn't commit the infraction. He still got away with it, the laws stating that you can not be tried for the same crime twice protect him. I beleive it's called double jeapordy.....
Don't break any laws, don't attack someone who broke into your house and is threatening your family, don't fight for what's right, don't vote, just be a passive by-stander in this wonderful country and watch it go down the tubes...
I really should not have written this.... Our country was founded on the beliefe that we all had the equal right to say whatever we think and believe..... I felt someone could benefit.
P.S. A different friend got out of a 95mph speeding ticket up in Marysville, becuase she's hot and flirted with the officer.... Yes, she's a woman. Think about it!
HoratioCaine, if you want to delete this or do whatever you want, just do it...

The traffic lights sequence in the USA and Canada is red, green, yellow, red. Same laws apply in both country's.

There is so much bull**** in BOTH of your posts. Grow up dude stop trying to be all about fighting the power. You broke the law man up and deal with. I am not going to address all the crap in your last post as I don't have the time and I am sure anyone reading that is well aware it's crap. The laws are not there as a money making scam toolbox they are there to try to keep us safe from asshat drivers such as yourself. Wow just Wow man. I hope you grow up soon so you can admit when your wrong and just take it like a real man or better yet STOP BREAKING THE LAW *******! Oh and your "ancestors" never had to worry about douche bags running red lights.

if you don't want a traffic camera ticket, don't run a red light.

they're not simply revenue generating devices.. there's enough people that think twice about it to stop doing it. will it stop everyone? no. even shooting someone that does it won't stop everyone.

will it help? sure. it's stopped me from going on questionable lights.
