um... i guess what i'm trying to say is that you're not just cruising thru meaningless classes to waste time?
just make the most of your parents' generosity... trying to pay for your schooling and working at the same time is hard... been there done that oh yeah... a friend has a name for these freeloaders: "leeches of society" |

I'm spoiled! I used the Bank of Mom and Dad to get me through university, and I don't have to pay back the loan. I don't think I could ever pay my parnets back.
I still live @ home, and I don't have to pay rent or food or anything AND I have a real full-time job! Yep, I'm spoiled, and I"m lovin' it! LaterZ! Darren!! |

I'm sure you love it, and I'm sure you'll reciprocate it back to your parents. Then that's not spoiled, like BT has said.

Concur with BT and Ken....it is all relative as well. If your parents make heaps of money and you get say 10% of that money towards schooling, food, clothing and a car, it is relative to someone who's parents make a small amount of money and buy their kid a bus pass, books and whatever they can afford. As long as you don't take it for granted then you are not spoiled IMO.
My parents have been very helpful to me throughout my life and continue to be so, but there is always a limit, and I certainly don't just get what I ask for. As long as you have been brought up with values then no prob. |

Yeah, but my brother doesn't seem to be like that. he gets whatever he wants, if not, a tear shed or two will do the trick. I wasn't brought up like that and it's weird how my parents treat him differently. He has no second thoughts about buying something while I feel guilty everytime I use the co-signed credit card cause it's techniquecally not my money |

Well I'm spoiled technically. They pay for food, gas, school and any other living cost. But I couldn't hit them up for vaction money because it seem too much to ask for. However, I seen a lot worst before. People at school that waste their time and cheat on tests are the worst. If they don't have a job or supporting themselves then what the hell are they doing then? I need to finish school ASAP and get on my own 2 feet. Plus I promise my mom a Porsche later on as well.
PS: Lantec, come to SFU man. Join me and Derke in this concrete hell hole! Also, word from someone who got rejected by the Biz department 6 times, you should consider Cap College or other good colleges. The transition from HS to University will be easier plus they work your butt off to prep you for 2nd year as well. |

"If you haven't figured it out by now - the school system is all about EXAMs. This is the unfortunate reality you must face through high school, even more so in university and graduate studies. I don't care if you are the best 'learner' in the world, -- if you can't write exams you WILL do poorly in school -- period." That's the brutal truth straight from my professor -- So moral of the story - don't get down on yourself that you can't seem to learn -- I'm sure you're learning fine -- just practice getting good at writing exams BTW - I'm thankful for all I have too. I was lucky to win a fully paid scholarship to cover my undergraduate career, and my graduate studies are sponsored by my company (though I'm voluntarily paying the last bit). Also, my WRX was paid for by myself though my bank account definitely feels it work hard. play hard! cheers! -- Dendrobium |

My parents helped out a bit. Got my dad's 10 year old car when I went to SFU. Got free room and board, my dad used the company gas card to fill my car. Paid my own books, tuition, etc through scholaships and coop though. Paid a meager amount for room and board once I graduated and got a job. Bought myself my Subaru. Bought my own place and am now completely self sufficient.

i see so many freeloaders is disgusting. there are many people in our generation who are going to be so useless in the future. if you are not handicapped, get a freakin job and pay for your own car and help out with the tuition. its hard to drive a car you didn't pay for, go to a no-rent home and have dinner ready for you and have mommy kiss you goodnite eh? |

Folks bought me a '94 Nissan Sentra as a first car (because they got tired of driving me to school), and helped with the down payment on a condo. That's it, though, had to scratch up enough for college and everything else.
We're all spoiled as hell, though. We get to eat three square meals a day and drive ... that's pretty dang rare for the world... |
