Default sti fuel pump assembley

I get fuel starvation during auto x and hard corenering on the streetwhen less then 1/2 tank.
i notied the sti pick up assambley is diffrent and have a plastic box over the pickup screen, any one know if this was to combat this problem on the better handeling sti?

I live in the mountains and drive very spirited, I also auto-x my car and it doesn't have that problem even near empty. Are you sure thats the problem?
