Default The Dark Side of U2

This is one of their most underrated songs...its a cole porter cover, but so Haunting it is eerily beautiful. Their new album isnt anything like their older experimental music.

U2 were great when they were pissed off irish punks back in the late 70's and 80's. now, not so much.

There is a LOT to like about them, especially from the 90's-80's, I dont like their new music at all...only the older stuff and songs like the video above that most poeple dont know about.

U2 still sucks.

All the cool kids on the internet hate U2, join the crowd.

They're one of my favorite bands.

Some of us hated U2 before the spread of the internet. They've been slugging it out for almost 30 years....there's nothing more disgraceful than trying to hold onto a time that's long gone.

See also: Rolling Stones, The Who, ect...

the problem with that theory...U2 still puts out decent music unlike the stone and who...but the who and stones and u2 still put on great concerts

try and distinguish not liking a band and suck...which none of the above suck

Or, it just be a matter of opinion with no relation whatsoever to ones level of "cool".

Their early stuff is great, but I think their later stuff is lacking in the same soul. Then again, I feel that way about a lot of bands; the Chili Peppers, The Stones, and Metallica, for example. They're all still obviously talented and successful bands, they just don't have the same fire in their music.

The real difference between the above mentioned groups is that two of them have enough of a body of work to fall back on.

I like the Stones, but I think a pensioner who himself said that being a pensioner singing "Satisfaction" would be sad, is sad. The Who tried to quit, and succeeded for somewhere around 20 years, but fell into the same trap.

Actual quote: "I only meant to do it for two years. I guess the band would just disperse one day and say goodbye. I would continue to write and sing, but I'd rather be dead than sing Satisfaction when I'm 45."

- Mick Jagger, May 1975

I also liked early U2, but they lost their way, tried to overreach...and the songs that have been released lately are the very definition of "meh." "Beautiful Day?"

So you cite a 10 year old song as an example of a recent release?

Seems like you are predisposed to not like them anymore. Not that there's anything wrong with that. As I said, The lost me after Rattle and Hum for awhile. I got the whole Zooropa/Achtung Baby/Pop thing and the persona that Bono was adopting for the stage. I just didn't like most of that music at that time. I can appreciate that music now and I like a lot of their more recent stuff. They're just not my favorite band anymore.
