Hey gas has gone down 30 cents in the last month here. It's down to upper 1.70's for 87 octane at a decent gas station.

Gas here in doodah has gone down from $1.79-$1.93 for premium to "only" $1.59 or thereabouts. 87 is about $.10-13 cheaper.

Not that even the highest prices ever deterred my consumption.

My wife read to me some gas savings tips from the newspaper as a joke since I eat gas with my driving habits. Just about everything they said, I do the opposite, with the exception of maintenence.

They reccomend tiptoe acceleration, me leadfoot.

They suggest keeping the trunk empty, even mentioning not keeping a case of oil in the trunk, which of course I have along with about 100lbs of tools and asst fluids.

I just consider the increased gas costs "entertainment expense". Some people see a lot of movies at $8 a pop, I spend a lot of time above 5000rpms at over 80mph.

We get about 3 miles more per gallon when my wife drives. So what? I guess I'll have to see even less movies and eat out less often, but my foot will stay glued to the carpet.

The high point of my week is a redline shift drag start away from toll booths that are so plentiful around NYC, oh boy sometimes I even get to keep it planted through 4th.

Gas is still cheaper than beer.
