Default fog light stone guards?

I was just wondering if anyone else has taken off their stone guards yet. I took them off once, just after I bought my baja to know how they come off. I took them off today to clean the lights and the clips broke off. I just twisted in the correct direction and the clips just broke off when twisting. I can't put one back on becuse all but 1 broke off and the other just one borke off. Has this happened to anyone else, and/or does someone know how much subaru is going to ask, arme or leg?

Thanks,

Ben

I've removed a few off of Outbacks at work, never broke one I have one in my tool box at work if you want it, I'll bring it home and see if it fits the Baja.

I pull mine off each time i wash the Baja and i've had no problems.Theres 4 clips on the guard, and 3 tabs on the fog light.Theres only 3 of the clips on the guard that are used.I found this out after i hit one of those Damn barrels
on the interstate. It broke off 1 of the tabs on the fog light and 1 clip off the guard,so i thought i needed 1 of each.So i swapped the guards and the one missing a clip worked on the other side.I had to get a new fog light which cost me $80 bucks.

Was at the dealer today and they stated that they see this problem all the time with the outbacks. What causes it is if you scrape under the bumper, it will cause pressure to be placed agenst the clips and they will break off easily. They are replaceing one because they damaged my bumper a couple of weeks ago and fixed the scrape. But this isn't covered under warranty. The cost of replacement ones is ~$42. WOW. Highway robery. But only 1 needs replacement so that is ok.
