Default My 2004 San Remo WRX Thread

I've had this car for about 3 years now, and I'm finally doing some work on it.

Current Mod list:
  • Exedy Stage 1 Organic Clutch
  • Exedy Lightweight Flywheel
  • Kartboy Short Throw Shifter
  • Full set of Kartboy shifter bushings
  • Grimmspeed Up-Pipe (Thermal Coated)
  • Perrin one-piece catted downpipe
  • Borla Hush cat back
  • Perrin MAF Hose
  • Perrin Turbo Inlet Hose
  • Grimmspeed Boost Control Solenoid
  • Rota Gravel 18x8 Gold Wheels
  • 245/35ZR18 XL Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110
  • Custom-tuned by Matt @ 555 Motorsports

...And my want list:
  • Gauge Cluster Color Change - White
  • Grimmspeed Turbo Heat Shield (Mutilated mine when I installed the down pipe)
  • 24mm Sway Bars

I've taken pics of some of the things I've done. I had a shop put in the drivetrain gear, as I wasn't comfortable umounting the tranny from the engine. I don't think they work on subarus much, because they under-quoted the job by half the time.

Pic of car pre-exhaust:

Pic of exhaust going in:

Old crappy exhaust:

New rear end:

Next up is a set of Prosport Halo gauges. They are shipping currently, but I have the gauge pod ready to go:

I'll be putting a boost gauge (replacing my old crappy one) and a oil pressure gauge in there.

I'm currently investigating how to get this caked on salt out of my carpet:

Would I just be able to use that spray bottle CLR stuff?

More to come later!

I'm waiting on my tactrix cable (they closed for moving and delayed their shipments ) and I'm having Matt @ 555 Motorsports do it. Should be next week.

Does anyone have pics of black badges on a red car? I definitely don't want to debadge (except for the stupid dealer one!). I am proud to own a subaru, why would I want to remove them?

I'll be posting a sound video once I get my tune done. Right now it's just the right sound for me, not screaming loud, but very low and rumbly.

Today I washed, clayed and Ultimate Compound-d the car:

It's really amazing what clay and Ultimate Compound can do. Hopefully it doesn't rain tonight, I'm planning on waxing in the morning.

And I've got my gauges all installed. Prosport Premium Halos, Boost + Oil Pressure:

Also installed a Grimmspeed BCS. With the new tune, it's like a new car.

Sent the car to the body shop on thursday for a repaint on the hood, rood and front bumper. Should get it back on monday

The rood was getting some rust bubbles on it, and the hood was pretty much destroyed with chips and bad touch up from the previous owner. Like a fool, I didn't take before pics.

Moar pics! I got the hood painted and installed some of my new samco hoses. I also simple green'd the engine bay.

New hood paint job

Engine bay before:

Engine bay after:

I couldn't get two of the hoses installed. They are VERY tight. I'm going to try and do the radiator hoses this weekend.

Installed some parts with the MWSOC Lake County crew last weekend. I updated my parts list

Added a new uppipe, intake hoses, and did my timing belt.

I didn't take any pics during the install, but I hope to get some new bay pics up soon. I started saving up for some summer tires to go with the Rota Gravels I'll be getting.

Is 18x8.5 a good size for my car, and what's a good tire size for that? I like the look of wider tires, so will a 255/35 work OK (or should I go with a 245/40)? I don't want to do any fender rolling or anything like that.

That looks pretty nice. I think I'd want larger subaru lettering though.
