Red rx7. How will I ever tell it apart from mine? I might accidentally take the wrong car out on my runs.

Yep, and that is Ron V. himself in one of the photos giving tips and advise before letting his baby go. Says he wants to come crew at the first stage rally it does again so perhaps you'll see him again.

I just moved to Delaware and am thinking of going out to this event a few times this year. How many people usually show up? I have an RS and a WRX that would be in AWD prepared. My first time would probably be the April events. What is the drivers school like?

Yeah! Thats Ron's car.
It called my attention because it was very well taken care of and it was street legal. Which meant that I can go to autocrosses or rallycrosses without trailering it. Now the 1 million dollar question... Will the car pass inspection with a roll cage and not the original seat belts? (it has a 6-point harness). Or anybody knows somebody that would go easy on that? Everything else is perfect on the car. |

clearly my use of tongue-in-cheek was lost on you...I was joking with KAT_Ayanami since he was (facetiously) worrying about having nobody else in his class. As to rules, I've autocrossed for 15 years following the arcane SCCA (and/or other clubs') rules, and have no intention of doing otherwise now

It was better when DC region just used 6 car classes. No reason to seperate FWD from RWD if you ask me. Big brother at SCCA ruining rallyX w/ its trophy hunting influence.

Hopefully I'm not speaking out of turn here but this is what I've noticed. The drivers school will depend on how many folks are actually doing the "school". Nothing super formal. First part is just a quick briefing on how everything works as far as management of the events, safety, etc. I've been to one where there were enough folks we broke into a couple groups, ran through small portions of a course a few times while experienced drivers watched and gave pointers, then latter half of the day just ran full course without the pressure of being timed, with experienced drivers riding along to give pointers and/or riding in others cars to learn. I've also been to one where only 1 or 2 guys wanted to do the school and in that case we all just ran full courses all day and did ride alongs to get/give pointers. I've found everybody to be super friendly, laid back, and helpful. If you want help or pointers just ask and you'll get it. If you want to learn on your own, that's cool too. You should come out, it's too much fun not to. Also, you should know that the Philly region SCCA ran a couple rally-x events out at the Monster Mile last year, but I'm not sure if they've put together a schedule for this year yet. -Adam K. #99 edit: we typically had around 25-35 drivers at each event last year (I believe...Jard can give you the real stats). |

The turbos just take too long to spool out of the corners mine spools damn quick, with max torque at 3k rpm. |

Was the plane in the photo and a very unfinished WWI project hanging in the rafters.

You and shawn should put ballast on the cars and run on prepared... (about 500 lbs or so on the front bumper!!) or if we can contact the BMW guys ask them for 2 of them to Modified. Since there is a Modified RWD now. The more the merrier |

There will be 2 more new guys there co-driving an e30 (a thrid e30), but I think they're running stock RWD. But I doubt they care, they'd probably run whatever class people want them to run, they said they're just doing it for fun this season until they can build the car (they just bought it like 2 weeks ago). |

I remember at my first event with my '02 WRX I felt that the turbo lag was very noticeable and when it finally did kick in I was way high in the RPMs and the sudden surge of HP frequently put me out of control. When I bought an AP and ran a stage 2 map the turbo lag was no longer an issue but the WRX was still too much HP for me as a newbie. Then I bought the Impreza L with less than 100HP I had a lot more fun and hit a lot less cones. I think it is possible to have too much HP in RX especially since the course is designed to have tight turns and limit speed in some areas. and 'cmon Mark, your car is far from a stock '03 WRX now. Didn't you just put a hybrid motor in? |

Thanks for the info. I will probably end up taking the RS. My goal is to improve my driving. Less power will probably mean less distraction and more focus on being neat and carrying speed. The drivers school sounds good either way you described it as you get lots of seat time in both situations. You can't teach experience so seat time is key in my mind. I'm looking forward to getting out there. |

The iX has the same Fergie t-case/diff set up. Ah viscous fluid :-) It also helps that I have 3 or 4 spare 4.10 fronts laying around, along with both a viscous and a mechanical 4.10 rear.
