2005 RS exhaust systems?
What is the best sounding exhaust system for a 2005 RS? Preferably one that doesn't require me to swap headers. One that's in the 300-600 dollar range is something I'm looking for.

Should it be loud?

I would try to find either a stock STi catback or (if you can) a SPT axelback.
The STi catback will require the flange to be rotated and the mid pipe to be extended, but you can usually pick up the catback itself for under $200. You won't get the boxer rumble without headers. Neither the STi or SPT catback are very loud, but you can still hear them, and they will give it a somewhat rumbly sound. |

Tsudo catback! Loud, deep, and it's only like 6 bolts.

I will be following this for sure. I am in the exact same boat, with a 2005 RS wagon. Waiting until spring to put one on but definitely need something. I love the sound of a boxer that can breath a little better.
I am looking at the Stromung single here for right now... http://boxer4racing.3dcartstores.com/Catback_c_360.html |

Find a good muffler. Go to a local (good) muffler shop and have them weld you a 2 1/4in - 2 1/2in catback and throw that muffler on. After a few set ups I found this to be my favorite. Perfect look and sound for me.
Never tried the Tsudo exhaust but it looks pretty beast as well. |
