Default JDM LGT Spec B swap into WRX, could using 91 instead of 96 be causing my misfires?

So, it's supposed to be running on 96, but the highest we have here in OK is 91...I'm just under half so I'm going to go get some unleaded race fuel if possible and see how she runs, think this could cure misfire problems in all 4 cylinders? Motor has under 1000 miles and has brand new spark plugs.

I would say don't even drive till you get your octane up. We just reflashed my V7 STi ecu to run on 93 octane, and the base timing map was insane! We kept pulling and pulling timing to keep the ecu happy. I was running ~95 octane at first and the ecu didn't like it a whole lot. To answer your question, if ou have to drive it, get some 110 mix in there, then get ECUteked or another flash program. We beta'd ECUedit and the enginuity software on my car and it worked flawlessly.
good luck

um, ya. If the motor is AVCS equipped and your ecu is not, I could see that causing some problems. It sounds like you've got some stuff going on that I didn't take into account. Give us a detailed list of turbo, injectors, wiring done, ecu ect to figure it out.
I'm pretty durn sure that ecu should not run your motor tho. let alone the fact that 2.5 L would require a signifigant retune to run with your ecu.

skiblur, this is a 2.0L motor, pretty much internally the same as ours with the exception of the pistons. I'm still running TD04, stock 380cc injectors. As far as I know, there has been some wiring done with respect to the front driver's side cam position sensor. It is being taken to MZM International tomorrow for them to take a look and fix the problems, and for an ECUTek reflash. Oh and AVCS is not hooked up.
