BRZ Dyno Thread
Now that InsideLine has posted an article and video about their FRS dyno results, I figured it might be worth starting a general thread for FT86 dynos.
Inside Line stock FRS dyno (posted April 2012): COBB stock BRZ dyno (posted April 2012 - made private shortly afterwards): BRZ .jp website engine output curve (posted Feb 2012): Note: torque units should be N*m, not kg*m Combined plot. Even if we assume only 12% drivetrain loss (low for RWD), the engine is still underrated below ~6600-7000 RPM:

Note that the FR-S dyno is on a 2-wheel dyno and the BRZ was done on a 4-wheel dyno, spiinning both front and rear wheels. For whatever that's worth, it is a difference.

Weird. There's the same torque dip @4000 rpms that the 07+ turbo models have. Emissions nazi's strike again?

These little buggers would be absolutely sick with a turbo, or just simply a stronger engine. Right now, there power to weight isn't god awful, but I wouldn't describe it anywhere in the territory of good either. Now, if it was between 225-250 WHP, that would be a sick ride (provided it stays in 2800lb area)! It would also be hard to fit rubber wide enough to compensate for spinning, under that small wheel well.

Just for fun, could someone throw the Insideline graph and this Civic K20 graph together?
http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/attac...dyno_chart.jpg It would be interesting to see if that dip really is a dip, or if the "buldge" before it is a rather large buldge aimed at normal driving rpm. Thanks, Chris H. |
