No way to tell for sure. A lot of it has to do with what kind of cat is on the car. Best place for the WB is 8-32" after the turbo but before the cat.

Most tuners (and dynos) put a removeable WB02 sensor in the tail-pipe during tuning/logging/dyno. I have compared my LC-1 directly behind my turbo to a WB02 in the tail-pipe and there was almost no difference in actual AFR - however, there was a definate difference in response.

At a constant throttle, AFR is almost exactly the same, a quick stab of the throttle will show the difference in response - and the WB02 in the tail pipe felt about half a second behind.

Saying that, many reputable tuners have and still do tune with the WB02 in the tail-pipe, so it can't be as bad as it is perceived to be - can it?

Yeah I wish someone would just test it after the cat and before the cat. But I guess I am just getting the o2 bung welded on the DP

I have tested before and after the cat and have found EXACTLY the following... No difference in reading, but there IS a difference in response time...

Make sure to mount it at least a 8-10 inches behind the turbo. Wideband sensors read off and can be damaged when they get really hot. Inovate recommends, with their kits, if you have to place the sensor close to the turbo that you either buy there heatsink bung which is about $90 or make a heatsink out of copper sheet metal to go on the sensor. Overheated sensor are not just a problem with their kits it is a universal issue. You can go to Inovate's website and find the instruction manual for any of their kits. They all have a section about this heat sink.

and i just thought that the cat would ruin the sensor that is why i have been asking

Mine is in the bung that was already in my dump-pipe. It is only about 6" from the turbo and works flawlessly

yeah you went off subject but that's cool

i was just trying to find out if anyone has tried the wideband after the CAT but i have found out from what people are sayin that it just has a time delay

well saving a little bit of money and time for a time delay if fine with me

and maybe down the road i will end up getting a bung welded on my DP

I find the same. I have an aps turboback the bung by the turbo is too close for permenent installation. So I have a bung welded alittle farthur down stream. I use the tail mounted innovate mount when i tune on the dyno and if i need the wideband on the street.

Based upon the feedback in this thread, it seems like it's just a time delay issue. If that is the case, why not consider installing the wideband in the stock REAR O2 sensor position.

Then run the narrowband output to the stock harness.

lol, that's always the way. You finally get it installed and it doesn't wanna play ball

A few questions:
1. Are you using the direct serial plug connection - or a serial-to-usb adaptor?
2. Can you connect to it with LM Programmer (the software comes with the LC-1)?
3. Is it set to "gasolene"?
4. If all the above are ok, what version of RoMRaider are you using to log with?
5. In the RomRaider Logger, did you first go to the "plug-ins" menu and select the LC-1 and it's com port?
6. If yes, did you then select the LC-1 parameter to log it?
7. Try selecting/deselecting the LC-1 parameter a few times, sometimes it takes a couple of turns.

If you did all those things it should work.

I was just backing you up!

Time delay appears to be about 3 lines off while logging... Basically, when you're logging, if you close the throttle, you will notice it takes about 3 lines for the afrs on the wideband to catch up to the closed throttle... So, however long that is - YMMV!!!

I am going to have a AEM Uego installed in my Dp, but Im not going to use the spot already tapped on the do....so after reading, I am assuming to have a bung welded in sayyyy 10in down from where the Dp meets the turbo? Would that be downstream far enough or should I go 12-14in down?

Thanks
