Default Rockblockz

So I really want mud flaps for my 2013 wrx hatch. I know rally armor is the best but I don't have $170 to throw around and I was wondering if anybody knows how the Rockblockz are?

There is an entire thread about flaps around here somewhere. Rockblockz aren't horrible by any means. Flapatax are also great, and only 50 bucks. (exactly what I have, do the exact same job as RA's) DRT components is another option.

"Best" in this category is all extremely relative. All mentioned brands come with the same style hardware, all are the same material, and basically it boils down to the brand you are buying and slight "design" variations as to price driving point. Also expect people to chime in about how awesome their RA's are or how all the others suck. Fact is they are completely over priced.

Did you know there are generic Rallyarmors that sell for $25?

$22 and change shipped. Rallyarmor universal basics. You have to drill them to fit, but they're better than cutting boards and cheaper than pre drilled.

I have the rockblockz on my 2012 wrx. I've never had RallyArmor flaps but I've read that the RBz are stiffer than the RAs. They do make a horrible scraping noise when I go over a speed bump or something.

I have RB's on my Bugeye. I got the XL's and they are awesome. RA's are way overpriced in my opinion

I know they have the universals but how hard is it to drill and what not?

Yeah 170 for 4 pieces of polyurethane is a bit much lol. Thanks for the input!

I have RA UR's and love them. They don't make any noise if I scrape them, they are durable, and do their job. RA UR's are like most Apple Products...overpriced because of the brand and materials used. Personally, I found a great deal and went for em because I'd rather pay an extra $50 over other flaps and have them last forever than buy something cheaper and waste time and money reinstalling new ones. Just my .02

Or you're just paying more money for the name.. I've heard that the rally armors make a flapping sound at high way speeds. I could be wrong on that though. They are at least 100 bucks more then Rokblokz.

OP I just put RokBlokz on my 2011 WRX this past weekend and I love them so far. Easy install and look good. 69 bucks shipped, can't beat that.

I've had both RAt's and Flapatax. I got the WAs for like 70 so I wasn't too bummed. But, the hardware difference from RA to Flapatax is night and day. I've had the flapatax on for about a month now with no problems. But the hardware with the RAs is much much stronger. I feel like if these flapatax felt any resistance, they would rip right off.

Just my .02. I would go with the RAs again if I found a good deal, but never brand new. Also keep in mind that there is 2 different kinds. RA offers a stiff and soft version, flapatax are stiff.

Definitely no flapping with my RAs at highway speed. Those Rokblokz do look pretty sweet. Are they stiff? (don't even, this isn't OT)

I like the RA and DRT flaps.

I'm sure the rokblokz do the job fine as well, but I just cannot stand the emblem on the flaps. Its huge, and looks like it belongs on a car with the shocker sticker on the bumper.

I spent the money for the RA urethane flaps. I would never buy anything else unless it is also flexible urethane. Yes, they are more expensive than other options. Yes, I probably paid for the name. They are, however, super nice, have excellent fitment, and look great. I'm sure the other options are good too, but if you can afford the best, why not? I got a great deal.

Lastly, they don't make any flapping noise in the wind or at speed. I've been told they flex a little at speed, but that's to be expected.

Unless they changed it from when I bought them, they're just stickers. You don't have to put them on.

Like Andrew said, you don't have to put the RB stickers on the flaps if you don't like them. I personally liked how the red sticker looked so I put it on.

To answer the stiffness question (lol) , the Rokbloks don't flex when held out straight but if you try to bend them they will flex a little. They don't flap in the wind at speed at all and seem to do a nice job of keeping debris off the side of the car.

I think both the Rokblokz and RA flaps are great, I went with the Rokbloks for price mainly and I liked how they looked.

It didn't seem worth 170 dollars for Rally armors when I could get same thing for 69 shipped through Rokblokz. Like I said, I'm sure both look and perform well!

Let us know what you decide on.

I've had RB's on my bugeye for a few months now and love them. They've survived daily driver duty as well as a few rallyX's. They are stiffer then rally armors but I don't have any scraping problems at stock height.

All I did for the universals was to use my stock mudguards as templates to where to drill. All told, I spent another $8 on hardware and an hour drilling and making a couple of brackets.

They scrape LOUD though, and I'm only lowered a couple of inches.

I got my Rokblokz and put the fronts on last night. They look great but they were a real pain to get on IMO.

All flaps are a pain to do with the wheels on, this doesn't matter depending on brand fyi.
