So am I missing something? Does this thing have electric steering? Please no. Please NO.

"But the new steering is unsatisfyingly vague and doesn't return to center readily enough." (http://www.insideline.com/subaru/for...irst-look.html) This is a bummer. I'm gonna hold on to my hydraulic-steering car until it, or I, bite the dust, whichever comes first. |

I read somewhere that you don't need to use premium gas, but you'll only get the full 258 lb if you use premium. On regular unleaded they're estimating about 225... Here in Canada at Petro Canada gas stations we have a higher octane at 93.
Does anyone think that the xt will get the full 280 like the JDM does because their premium is 93. Thanks for any input |

Why does the U.S. version get the ugly shifter? I really liked the JDM automatic with leather boot. The U.S. just gets an ugly stick?
I keep wondering what a 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque Forester would be like, since that's what this engine makes in the JDM Legacy. |

Guess I'll be hanging on to my 2004 XT. The new ones have been so neutered there's almost no reason to make one with a turbo. Why bother? The WRX is too adolescent so it looks like no more Subaru's for me.

Hopefully the L.A. reveal proves us wrong and they stuck with the JDM shifter and boot for the U.S. spec. Forester. I really don't understand the changes they make from JDM to the U.S. Forester.

What I am curious about is does that wart replace the passenger side hood mounted mirror(that this clearly doesn't have)? And that would be why it's not on the USDM. |

I hate the thought of Subaru making record sales, yet they still choose small designs that aren't aesthetically pleasing because of "cost". It's counter-intuitive.

Huh? So neutered? What does that even mean? I have seen a lot of foolish comments but those tend to come from H2BS.

Sounds like the EPS might be tolerable. Hyandai's implementation of it, in, for instance, their turbo Santa Fe is a freaking disaster. So much so I could never buy a vehicle with steering that bad. Only an FXT test drive will tell the story I suppose. Sounds like EPS is here to stay and it will only continue to improve.

I know the quality of gas we have is terrible though. We missed out on the "blue" series of engines from mercedes because they said they wouldn't reliably run on our **** gas. |

Please stop posting, because you don't know what you're talking about. The Mercedes "blue" engines run on diesel, eejit.

The new USspec Forester will be displayed at the LA Auto Show later this month (see http://www.subaru.com/content/downlo...lease_LAAS.pdf) and SOA correctly describes the event as the new Forester's North American debut. But the LA Auto Show's website wistfully classifies it as a world debut (see http://www.laautoshow.com/DebutVehicles).

No one has mentioned it here but Subaru added more sound deadening material, the 2 Canadian reviews I read this morning talk about that. That's a great improvement over the older Foresters.

I would absolutely buy an XT if SOA makes it available with a 6-speed. Guaranteed, no doubt in my mind, I will walk into a dealer the day they go on sale and order one.
But if they don't, **** Subaru, never buying another one as long as I live. |
