Has anyone one here owned a Pioneer SPH-DA02 AppRadio?
I'm looking to get a new head unit for my 04 sti, and I was wondering if anyone had any prior experience with the Pioneer SPH-DA02 AppRadio. I'm able to snag it for ~$150. Just need a reason not to........

My buddy has one in his 02 WRX and it's nice but if its the one I think it is, you just can't put a cd in. If you have no problem with that then it's a good unit.Thats a nice price

Yes, I had one in my 11 sti for about 3 days. Imo its not a terrible radio, but it wasnt for me. In order for the App Radio to be functionable, it requires you to have an iPhone/iPod/Ipad. This iDevice SHOULD have internet all the time if you want to use the radio for anything other than music or the few apps that dont require internet. For example, navigation. Internet on my sprint iPhone is terribly slow, it is barely useful. To make matters worse, if you get a phone call you lose internet connection. Yes, there are nav apps available that works without internet but the ones that I use werent worth it.
If you dont care about nav and you just want a nice looking touch screen, I would do it. |

Most people change out radio's to improve sound quality. There are much better options for sound quality.

Thanks for the responses! I do care about sound quality, but I won't be replacing the stock speakers or adding a sub so it's more about the usability through my iPhone 4S that attracts me. I have great service, and I don't use CDs anymore anyway so I think that wont affect me.
Can anyone comment on the quality of the touchscreen itself? Or the interface of the device? |

Supposedly has a sluggish interface. The v2 is an improvement over the first one though. I researched one a year ago, decided to pass.
Brand new they are $160, on crutchfield I think it is |

I'm hearing the ios 6 is having issues with pioneer. Although it was just 1 or 2 reviews that people were saying they were having trouble with.
