Gruppe-S UEL Header questions
Thinking about picking up this header and was wondering if I would be able to install it with my stock wrx oil pan. I've heard of some headers that will need a sti oil pan to clear?

You will need to swap out your oil pan for one off an STi.

I have this header and the stock oil pan. It fits fine, it is nowhere near the oil pan.

Just be prepared for some additional turbo lag if you're basically stock and have already had your tune optimized for your stock manifolds/crosspipe. I put them on my 03 WRX a few years ago after having my setup all tuned for my stock manifolds and lost 20 hp, a ton of mid-range torque, and about 500 RPM in spool. To be fair, though, I had a custom tune that was optimized for the stock pre-turbo exhaust and spooled MUCH faster than stock and had WAY more mid-range power. My tuner was able to re-tune my car to get most of the power back, but could never get the super-fast spool that I had with the stock manifolds.

reason i asked was i got the gruppes uel header and iag ewg uppipe. i think my uppipe is 2.3ID from the header, then tapers down to a 2" velocity stack...then tapers again to 1.7id which is the same as the turbo inlet? I dont really have a point in this I just wanted to know the ID of the grimmspeed as that was my first option to go with for the ewg but found a killer deal ona bnib iag ewg kit

No, you've got a point. Let's see if we can get someone to point this out for us and or one of the grimmspeed people to chime in.

I am in the market for uel headers as well, i already have a 2in uppipe and 3in down and catback as well as a tune for it ( actually a re-flash by vishnu) but your saying that i'm going to lose power w/ the headers? i may just skip that mod all together then. Especially if im going to loose my quick spool, the whole reason i wanted to get them was to improve that.(swapping in a vf34 soon) But on gruppe-s they point out which headers will need an oilpan swap, and also have dyno charts on their headers.

I measured the collector on my gruppe-s UEL header and it was right around 2.35" ID.
