Default 2.5i wagon wheel fitment

Im usually not the one to start a new forum but i'm going off to college in two weeks so i need some help fast. I own a 2.5i wagon, and as some of you know 6.5" wide wheels are the pits so i need some change. I've been looking into some 18x8" wheels. I want to wrap them in 245/45/18's but i don't know about fitment. Making matters worse i am lowered on Epic lowering springs. Will they fit? Rub? Any help is appreciated...

Information on the springs:

245/45 is way too tall...and a 245 is pretty wide for a wagon.

225/40 would be better/easier.

Do you understand how tire sizes work?

If so, you want a tire close to 25" tall.

Are your rear 'fenders' rolled? There is not much room in the rear of a lowered wagon...hence why I suggested a 225.

What tires are you looking at specifically, there is a lot of variation in tire width between brands and models, so that will have a significant impact.

Nothing in perticular yet. I'm trying to get some ideas for now. I'm on a budget. Any suggestions?

I figured I'd throw this idea out to you: While 18's do look great, you don't necessarily need rims that big!

Here's what a member on my local forum did, see what you think:

http://kcsubaru.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17325

The nice thing with keeping a 16" wheel size is your unsprung weight stays very low.

For example: an 02-04 WRX rim weighs 16.5lbs. A newer stock WRX rim weighs in the neighborhood of 20-22.

That pair of forged BBS wheels? 12.2 lbs. A set of 18's? 30 pounds, at least. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The other thing about running a 245 width tire (with a lowering kit) is that the wagons do not have the flared fenders that the sedans do. Too wide a tire, and the tire will rub against the suspension and fender, most often in the rear. Mess up a tire, and you got yourself a $120 toy for your kid to swing on.

Bottom line, the widest I'd go is 225.

My .02 cents

Even the boat anchor 08 STi 5 spokes 'only' weigh 27 lbs each.

My 18x8.5 cast Enkeis weigh around 19lbs.

Light wheels are great, but an 18 inch wheel is pleasing to the eye..and one could argue that for daily driving, a nice looking wheel might have more value than a very light weight one...nobody is trying to save tenths of a second on their commute.

None of this, however, is relevant to his question on tire fitment.

I totally understand where your going with the rim weight, but at this time I want something more pleasing to the eye like crawdads said. Anyone hear anything good about Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110's?

225 is a good width. You can fit 235, but then if your offset of the new wheels are too low then you might still rub the fenders. I put 245/45/17 on a +47 offset and they ripped both fender rubbers right off - don't do that

If you want an idea, I have Prodrive P1's, 18x7.5 with an offset of 46. I run 225/40/18's, all on an 05 Wagon, stock suspension.

Does it rub, absolutely. You'll need to roll your fenders as a minimum.

Personally, if I had it to do over again, I would have went 17's.
