Default Fuel Rail with TXS Stage 4

I have my TurboXS Stage 4 all ready to be installed, but i was wondering whether or not an aftermarket fuel rail would be needed...I know the ej20 motor has characteristically leaned out on cyl 3, and I would assume that this problem would be exacerbated with a larger turbo, intercooler, etc...I was just wondering if anyone with an upgraded turbo has upgraded their fuel rails, and if so, how has the performance been affected...Thanks!

From what I have read it is not needed. I was debating the same thing as I have all my Stage 4 components waiting to be installed. However, I would assume that the TXS stage 4 would include it if it was needed.

Just do the rails to be on the safe side. I feel the reason why mine blew was b. s of lack of fuel ... do it you wont regret it.

I decided to do the fuel rails at the time of my "stage 4" - i would recommend the peace of mind. I don't think they are necessary, but if you change the map you are running in any way, change other variables, etc. then I would recommend it. And most people end up changin something...

Thanks.

There has been a lot of dissusion about this topic and the big brains have found that the upgrade fuel pump has you covered. If you want to spend the money on a fuel rails it couldnt hurt, but you should be ok.

Nah, fuel rails are not needed. its the older GC8 era motors with the fuel rail issues.

I mean you will get a bit more flow for a given injector size, but if you have teh pink injectors you are set.

I disagree, it's not how much fuel is being delivered, it's even fuel delivery - I installed fuel rails (regulator and pump too) because it makes all the cylinders get the same ammount of fuel. This means no lean #4 conditions, when all the other cylinders are okay.

It does not make power, it is a long term safety issue for me.

Good Luck.

some people with rails are still having problems, and some are on stock rails and doing fine. an older intake manifold was flowbenched and #4 was getting way more air than the other 3 - look for ShapeGSX's thread. if you haven't read this thread yet on lost compression in #4, here it is

Bzzzt. The old cars had issues with #3. The new cars have issues with #4. A CAR WILL NOT RUN LEAN ON THE FIRST CYL ON A FUEL SYSTEM BECAUSE OF FUEL PROBLEMS NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Ok so if you make ALL of them run lean it will, but on a normal tune it will have the highest pressure at the injector and thus run the richest given that all 4cyl have equal pulse width.

when you speak of older and newer cars with cylinder issues, are you referring to 02' as older and 03 as newer??
I have a 02 wagon. just curious.

I think your Motor blow because of to much Ing advance. As I understand it number 4 went in you car. Number 4 is the first cyl in the rail so that would be the richest. Witch would mean a higher VE at peak TQ. IMHO.

Fuel rails can't hurt but the most important thing for realiability is proper tune at those power levels.
