WRX manual tranny rebuild or possible sti tranny swap?
i have 135k on my wrx and i feel soon it will start to grind and all that good stuff. what would be the best route to doing this? should i look for a used tranny? or should i get a rebuild kit? or if you have any better ideas hit me with them!
Thanks Brody.

Have you considered changing your transmission oil?

If its not broke don't fix it. Change the fluid. If you see any metal shavings then worry about it.

Be careful of which oil you put in. The stuff most parts stores carry don't mesh well with the 5 sp. The best oil to use is the subaru extra s. You can buy it online in quart bottles, or sometimes the dealer may carry it in drums.
Do you try to shift really fast? |

I've read tons of things on this forum about uncle scotty's cocktail. It seems to come pretty well recommended.

I did 2qt of motul, 1 qt redline shockproof and topped it off with more motul. Feels way better than the stock fluid

However, I feel more comfortable using something not only designed specifically for my transmission, but a little more homogeneous, compared to dumping a concoction of fluids down the tube. |

Change your fluid, THEN worry about other options as a fluid swap will likely fix it as long as you use one of the listed fluids.
