Default Car Wont Crank

To make the story short I went out to crank my wrx this morning for work the car had full power and primed up just fine, but it wouldnt even make the click from the starter when I tried to start it. Should I just assume my starter crapped out on me? I need to get this fixed ASAP since its my only transportation. Thanks for any help!

-P0335
-car primes
-no click from starter

What does that CEL code mean?

Start by checking your ground strap & 12v signal for the starter. If either of those came loose you'd experience this type of failure.

I checked my starter and all my grounds but still no luck.
The code says that there's a crankshaft sensor malfunction but Im not too sure where the sensor is.

Edited due to me typing before thinking. lol

However I strongly advise that you remove, clean and re tighten ALL engine grounds and try again.

I had exactly the same issue with my car, exactly the same code would occasionally set when it happened. Car would randomly not crank but had power to everything. I cleaned all my grounds and re tightened everything and I haven't had it happen again, it's been over a year now.

Even if the ground looks OK, clean it! Re tighten it!

Edit: Oh also, crank sensor is at front of engine under the alternator I believe. Search it up on google, should show you.

Also, you can bench test your starter if you want to be positive it's working, if you haven't already.

The P0335 is because the ECU sees the starter is engaged and 'thinks' the engine is cranking, but it sees no pulses returned.

It is a starter or electrical issue. An old thread from the member Audiosavvy detailed a similar situation and it ended up the battery was hosed.

'crank' means spin over... A bad crank sensor detects rotation of the crankshaft, which happens AFTER the car is spinning over. (ie, in other words, a bad crank sensor could cause a no-start condition, but it won't affect if a car spins over)

Most likely a bad solenoid or REALLY bad wiring. Easy enough to figure out though. After you make sure all terminals/grounds are good, take a jumper cable and connect one end to the positive terminal, and tap the terminal of your starter with the other.

Yeah didn't really think the first part of that through very well before I typed it out. Post edited to remove my brain fart

UPDATE: Went through and cleaned all my grounds as well as tested my starter. NO LUCK.
Car still has full power and you can hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the key but there's no "click" from the starter.
Anyone have any ideas?

hey guys another update, I went ahead and ran a wire between the two starter cables and cranked right up. When the wire was taken away it went back to the same symptoms, no crank.
Could it possibly be something with my ignition?
Or does this mean the starters bad?

Could be a bad ignition. If it started up when you bypassed it then you know the starter is ok.
