E85 and Custom Pistons Group Buy: Updated Pricing Tiers
*****UPDATED PRICING TIERS!!*******This is a group buy on a very versatile set of custom pistons.
The pistons are manufactured by JE Pistons utilizing the new 925SD forging. This forging is based off of the billet design that we (and a few other shops) helped torture test for JE. After the design was confirmed to work as they had designed they made a forging to match. Creating a forging off of the billet design lowered the cost from 1200 a set to roughly 900 a set for custom pistons. However, that's not enough! So I worked it out with JE that if we get 6 sets we can lower the cost to 650 a set. 8 sets: 600 10 sets at 550. Prices include shipping If you would like ceramic coated crowns you can order that for an additional $100 For custom spec pistons that is a DEAL! Lead time is 4 weeks after final payment is made. So what are you getting for your money? *99.5mm 925SD Forging rated at over 1000hp. *Tool Steel Wrist pins: strongest pins offered for these pistons *Complete Ring set with high tension oil control ring kit *Large Valve Reliefs for +1mm valves and high lift cams *Donut Dish for better swirl and faster combustion *Offset wrist pins for quieter operation *Contact reduction: small channels cut in skirt to minimize surface area and help maintain oil film *Accumulator grooves: also known as anti-det grooves Piston Specs: 3.9145" giving a .003-.004" clearance depending on final bore. Larger if block is honed. 13cc dish .012" deck clearance for use with OEM STi headgasket What can I use these pistons for? 2.34L engine with +2mm rods and 75mm stroke 2.5L engine with OEM length rods and 79mm stroke What will my compression ratio be? 2.34L with STi heads: 8.55:1 Rev capable of over 9k rpm with supporting mods and high boost. 2.34L with 06+WRX heads: 9.3:1 Race gas or e85 use and 8500rpm revs. 2.5L with STi heads: 9:1 Perfect for daily e85 high boost use, race gas high boost or moderate boost (17psi) pump gas cars wanting more economy or pump gas cars running high boost with meth/water injection 2.5L with 06+WRX heads: 9.8:1 Low boost engines on pump gas, e85/race gas engines with moderate boost, N/A builds with Nitrous. What can I expect from these pistons? Only the most power capable from your build. Example of a dyno graph with custom pistons similar to these: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2086005 1. Ian 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.

I realize it's the holiday season and not many people are buying for themselves. However, if you ever wanted a quality piston for a built motor, these are the ones to get.
We'll keep this up for a month or so with occasional bumps to push it to the top. Happy Thanksgiving.

As long as the payment clears and the customers are willing to pay the extra shipping costs, I don't care where the orders come from. I love all Subaru owners!
I have pictures of the pistons on the thread I linked to. NASIOC isn't letting me attach photos to this thread at the moment. I think it's a glich or something. The coating that we offer isn't swaintech, but it is ceramic and very effective. We don't run coatings on the side of these pistons because of the contact reduction on the skirt. The grooves are larger on these skirts than on oem pistons. In our testing combining that with a skirt coating has shown to trap particles in between the skirt and cylinder wall resulting in scracthes and premature wear. Which is exactly the opposite of what the coating is supposed to do. We've seen zero scuffing with the contact reduction and no skirt coatings. Almost 100% of the ones with coated skirts had excessive scuffing.

I usually use my Philippine based paypal and credit card for payment to some vendors here if the vendor is willing to accept that payment, my billing address here in the Philippines and my shipping address is in NY USA. Paypal is much easier for me to use. If you are willing to accept payment from my paypal or credit card, then I'm in with this GB. OT: Btw I notice in your signature that you sell Albin stuffs, do you sell Albin axles for 07 STIs? |

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
The coating is an option that I recommend, but as I said in the first post It's extra. Thanks for posting the pictures. They look just like those with two small differences: dish volume and compression height... Hardly noticeable to the untrained eye.

We'll collect the first round of deposits on the first of the new year. The deposit will be the 6 person price. If more jump on board, refunds will be issued.
If people are anxious to get the pistons made, we can take payment sooner rather than later and issue refunds if the GB gets bigger. That's the downside of GB's, everyone has to be on a somewhat similar time schedule.

Don't delay. Jump on this. I was told that if we get enough I can even allow a little extra customization. So that could mean higher or lower compression ratios. Post up your desires and we will see if we can come up with a solution.

I think its safe to say that i can go on this list.
but, one thing i noticed tonight on our way to taco tuesday. the foz only goes to 8k. maybe we should stick with the 2.5 go to 9:1 for low boost daily. maybe even the leon style maps. except in breannas case it would be boobies 1-pump 2-pump water/meth 3- 100 octane with water/meth thanks for the ride (in the car) tonight btw |

Because power from 4-8k is a total bummer.... FYI, that silicone hose was leaking on my car. I checked it this morning. So with a massive boost leak I'd say it did damn good, no?

i would be on a .86 hotside 30r so that will boost a little sooner than your car. especially if we go with higher compression and yeah i wasnt that impressed. maybe you should fix the leak and we should try again dan said you guys talked today how did that go. hes pretty cool guy huh. i talked with him for awhile today. he said he really likes the setup that you have in your car and i should do it lol becuase of physics its the right way to do it he said. you wanna pm the specs that you want him to bore the cylinders too so i can send it with the check. |
