im looking to get some new brake pads.

What are you going to be doing with your car? HPS will not work for track purposese, but it sounds like you will not be tracking it now anyway.

I use Redstuff and have some Yellowstuff R's I will install this year. I am very happy with the Redstuff-great pad, ran well at Laguna Seca and the big track at Willow Springs in January, on the street since then. Some have trouble with the Hawk pads-noise and rotor wear. See the Tire Rack site evaluations. They no longer carry EBC pads-don't know why-but they can be had from Pep Boys or from the net, no more expensive.

My two pennies.

Been running Hawk HPS for 3 years, on second set, and have never had noise or excessive rotor wear. Actually, this is the first time I have heard anyone complain about them....

Mine are silent as well and so far good on rotors as long as you stay off the track.

I dunno, guys. I went to EBC as there were so many adverse comments at Tire Rack, and I was planning ahead to track days. A friend had used them in his very fast Infiniti G35 coupe, so I followed in his tracks. Could be you two did the installation right and the complainers at Tire Rack didn't. Something is amiss somewhere, and I am a newbie even if I have subscribed to Road + Track since 9.64.
Cheers,
George
