Went to advance auto for some rotella and other misc garage needs in my RS....as im leaving a kid comes over to me as soon as i open my door to get in...

"IS THAT A 22B!?!"

"uhh, no, rs"

He then looks at the trunk and sees it says RS2.5, akward silence, and he left. The girlfriend asked if that has ever happened before, not to my memory, but i get asked a lot if its a wrx. lol.

Give him credit, it's the closest looking thing to a 22b we ever got here.

Bella: I have a remote car that looks like your car, it's green too!

CRX Bro: Yeah, is it fast?

Bella: No, it makes funny noises and breaks a lot. You should get a Subaru like my daddy's car.

CRX Bro: (laughing) Naw, tell your daddy to get a Honda. They're faster.

Then she said something that almost made me cry laughing.

Bella: Whatever man... Haters gonna hate!

He laughed even harder, revved up his engine, and took off as fast as he could. I just went home. I'm sure he told all his friends about how he stomped a WRX off the line.
Lol this is probably the best story on this thread.

One day a while ago my dad was having a computer guy set up some equipment at his business. They were both in a room that was somewhat near the entrance of the building. As soon as I pull up in my WRX to park the computer guy says to my dad (who remember is in the building, in a seperate room) says, "Now THAT is someone with a Subaru with a hole in the exhaust or missing a muffler". My dad laughs and says "No that's my son!" A minute later I walk in and they were both chuckling and then he was asking me about the car

Made me happy, gotta love that subie rumble!!

Stopped at a red light with cars behind me, heading to a single-lane on-ramp at the right ~100ft away...

A man in a Toyota Corolla on my left rolled his passenger side window down and asked me, "Is that car of yours fast?"

I smiled and said, "It's okay."

"Well...", he said. "Could you let me cut in front of you 'coz I'm heading for the freeway and I'm sure I won't be able to if I didn't tell you."

Another smile and said, "Sure, no problem."

I thought, it must be the "hood scoop effect" on people.

Yes, "is that a turbo?" seems to be common. I was at a ford dealer picking up some parts for work and the sales guys looked at my car and asked if it's a turbo.

Why, yes they are, good sir. Would you like to hear a song? It sounds best when you stand right in front.

Gave a ride to a coworker on Saturday. Half way home, he says, "This is a Range Rover, right?"

Another encounter yesterday, a dad with 2 kids parked at a meat market in an old Mazda 6 wagon. I had my windows open and the dad stopped with his kids and asked me, "Do you LIKE your car?"

I wasn't able to answer right away 'coz honestly I was puzzled with his question. I know WRXs are not perfect cars (no car is anyway) but in my mind, who would want to own & drive these cars and not LOVE them? (Okay, if you want to respond on the contrary kindly start a Gripe Thread)

I guess some unspoken man-to-man talk dictates that I don't use the "Love" word so I just gave him a "Heck, yeah" smile.

Then that got him to ask more about the car's performance and features 'coz he was thinking of swapping out his old Mazda for a Subie. I guess I'd be signing up my 2nd Subie recruit soon. Haha.

He ended our chat with a fistbump. Interesting, these cars are.
