I could go for the XT Premium with AWP but if it won't be available as option then I am crossing it off my list. Please God give us a Turbo XV....

Anyone know if we'll be able to retrofit the seat heaters into the premium?
I just noticed the XT Premium is the only trim that comes with some sort of cloth seat with sport bolstering. I'm guessing this has something to do with it. They must not be able to heat that seat easily or they just don't want to. Either way I can see how a good portion of the U.S., if not half of it has no need for the AWP. Then again if someone is looking at a car known for its AWD system I would think they would live in an area that would benefit from it. Either way, you're right it should at least be an option.

About 250 lbs from Premium to XT Premium.

Had it done for $199 for both front seats a few years back. I'd imagine $250-$400 is a typical range for a pair of front seat heaters to be installed.

AFAIK, no good alternative for the rest of the AWP, though, so toss me into the camp that thinks it'd be ridiculous to not offer AWP on XT Premium.

WRX Premium has sport cloth seats and has allowed them to be heated since MY2009.

See. How much would it cost Subaru to just include it? If someone doesn't want it, then they can just not use it. It would appeal for resale value at the very least.

Exactly. We don't want premiums. Took forever to get rid of the 2 we ever got. Now, DIT may change that, but we don't care to risk it till we have requests.

Cause you'll need it...

It wouldn't be a deal-breaker since auto-start would take care of some of the annoyance, but still, at this point it's just ridiculous not to have it on a Premium model.

I was mad that it wasn't in my 2008 Forester Sports XT. For the asking price it seems like it should've been included. It bothered me every time I looked down to see those switches blocked off from use.

Not sure when it started, but it wasn't 2008. Mine didn't have it.

Actually, Canadian-spec STI did. Upon further research, 2004+ WRX Premium sedan got it, too.

Guess again.

The 2014 Forester XT Test Drive Event for automotive journalists was held last week at INDE Motorsports Ranch in Wilcox AZ. And I thought journalists' driving impressions were still embargoed - I guess I'm wrong given the internet presence of these videos already.

Ok, not sure if this has been covered yet but:

What is the difference in the types of HID's I've seen on Subaru's? i.e. Current WRX/STI+BRZ vs. new Forester or Canadian XV?

They've typically all been 35 watt kits. The thing that changes is whether or not they're in a halogen housing or projector housing.

The embargo is still in place (until this Friday, 25th) and journalists should not be expressing any "Driving impressions" until then, but they can still provide video of it to a point.

hmm...ook, thanks. I wonder why would they choose to use halogen housing? Is there any benefit to this?

I just checked. Colors/codes/options are are in for 2014 Forester. XTs only come with a black interior. I don't like that idea. Also, Ice Silver can have either black or gray interior on the regular Forester. Guess they don't call it platinum anymore.

I just want to know what wholesale pricing is, when they will be available, and what inventory is coming my way.

Halogens tend to spread out more and shoot further down the road. Projectors are just cleaner-looking, for drivers and on-coming traffic. Also more intense.

So SOA blog why no option for the AWP on the XT premium? I live in the PNW and have it on our premium Outback. If I spend the $36 large on a 2014 Forester I will then have to look at some of the other larger cars.......maybe a second outback or something with a 3rd row of seating.

Or wait for the 2015 model year as Subaru will probably change up/add features or packaging.

Eh, did you guys read the blog? It's mostly about the resort. Mentions the Forester barely enough to be an article about it.

They haven't offered AWP on the premium XT in quite a while now
