But they did not pay for the repairs because they said that since the car was parked on the side of the street and not inside their parking lot they weren't responsible for any of the damages that occurred -.-
They're not incorrect. Did the tow truck driver leave the car there? Isn't the other driver who hit you responsible for it?

Yeah tow truck driver left it outside. As for the other driver who know who it was since there were no witnesses

Then why should they pay? They didn't leave it out there. Its not their fault and itdidn't happen on their property or on their watch. That's what your insurance is for.

But sometimes demodding the easy stuff and trading it in is too quick and easy to turn it down, ya know? Who knows, maybe they'll give me a good trade in value. I've got receipts for all work performed on it since I've owned it.

I have set aside time this Saturday to drive down to Subaru Superstore and give the XV Limited a test drive. Maybe I'll even test drive a Forester too, who knows.
Understood.

I know its easier to offload the car on a dealer and take a small hit in the pocketbook for it, but seriously, you made this car your own and looked after it, you dont want it abused by dealers. lol Have you tried posting the photos of the car and its mods to the main For Sale thread here? (all the car freaks in my family buy out-of-state, so its not uncommon) Or here? http://www.iwsti.com/forums/cars-sale/ or here? http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/content/ If you arent in a hurry to sell it and arent sure what to ask for it, just say "all reasonable offers considered" and leave it open for now. Avoid cl for now too lol - you'll get speed freaks who just want to open it up on the road.

Yeah, ok, I know I sound like Sarah McLachlan - "...for just $18 a day, you can stop dealers from abusing modded STIs...you can offer a loving home for this adorable little STI...please call the number on your screen..."

Yeah, I would prefer to not trade in after everything that has been done. I'm in no rush, so maybe I'll throw it up for sale this weekend. I know its not rare for out of state buyers, heck I bought this car from Florida off of IWSTI. I don't have it listed FS anywhere yet.

What color? Red? And how much? I'd make a for sale thread already. I know highly modified is a pain in the ass but I never expected it to be easy, personally. Then again thats why I chose to overly modify a bugeye that didnt have much of a resale value in the first place. Nevertheless this is an amazing car, good luck with your decision.

Do you have another car? I just don't even look at mine anymore and drive something else. It doesn't piss me off as much that way.

Build it yourself next time, twinscroll. Then you have no one to blame but yourself and chances are you'll do a better job. Then again once your can afford to build something like that, time becomes an issue. At least that's my limiting factor.

There is no next time. And time was a factor for me. I didn't have time or the want to do it. Which still carries thru to today. Which is why it still sits.

I can say buying a car build like these are smoking deals. There is so much money in these cars.

Yeah I have a daily driver. This car basically lives under a car cover. Gets driven about one hundred miles a week.

Well I just left the dealership.... I abruptly walked out after receiving the fine offering of $19,000 lmfao. They told me the car would simply be going to auction...I replied I'll simply be leaving now. Time to get a For Sale ad going, its private party or nothing, just as I had though.

Unfortunately, I think you will be disappointed with the market on these. I think you could get 23k for it though. The again, right buyer, right time, who knows. If you can wait until graduation time, some idiot parent will buy it for their **** trophy and you might get some crazy high amount like 30k.

I asked them...how much if it were stock? They told me my trade in would have been 24k then. So I at least know my bottom dollar now? haha

Id just sit on it. Its not like you have to drive it. Put it in the main sale thread and hold out till you get your asking price.

Its crazy all these built cars get built and the owners are just Blah after they are done.

A Month ago I went to Power Subaru and was looking for a used STi or a new WRX. The sales guy and the manager couldn't get on the same page about trades, the ability to get a used STi from another dealer, or making a dealer trade on a WRX that I was interested in, and the sales guy was a former crane operator and the manager was an arrogant ass. Personal opinion here, but that was my experience, and my wife's as well.

I did stop into The Subaru Superstore on Pecos. They were nice and helpful, but they didn't have in stock what I was looking for (color and package wise).

I ended up doing a dual trade in and dual purchase at Camelback Subaru/Mazda/VW. They gave me more for my trades than anyhere else would, and they got to get rid of a new but old stock 2012 new Mazda 3i Touring with the preferred package (for my wife) and a WRB 2013 WRX Premium for myself. We got the Mazda 3i for 18k when the sticker was 24,500 and they even gave me 2k off of the WRX. Super nice staff, not pushy at all. I'd definitely go back for the new purchase.

Just hold off like we talked about last night Zach

I abruptly sold my Radio Flyer and if I had waited would have probably either kept it or sold to a private buyer and made more off of it. Dont get the itch like I did, doesnt seem like you are, but thats when you lose more. Your car is amazing for what it is, and if people are willing to spend 35k+ on a stock sti, yours is well worth 30-35k and just needs the right buyer.

If someone has the cash, a test drive is all they need. GLWS, and you gotta let us know what you get

19k seems like a pretty fair deal for a 4 year old STI on trade. Still though, I'd definitely hold out and sell private seller.

no, it actually doesnt, that is a joke. If you read earlier he got "offered" 24k trade in if it was stock. 19k is a joke, they are going to turn around and put a 27k price tag on it, then sell it for 25k. I traded my 08 Sti that wasn't stock nor as modded as his and got a 03 corvette Z06 and 2k cash in my hand....I basically got 22k for my car based on my deal, and my car had a busted-ish front bumper that barely was hanging on (got damaged when delivering the car to the dealer haha oops) and had more miles then Zach's and less mods. I could have held out for 24ish but for some dumb reason I rushed things, and still got a decent deal.

I am confident Zach will at least happy in the end with whatever deal he goes with, but 19k is a joke. He is in a hard/unique situation with a fully built "newer" car.

Most dealers will say "we would have gave you XXX amount if it was stock" because they know you aren't going to put it back to stock, I don't believe any dealer would give 24k for a stock 08 sti since 90% of people bought them for 28k NEW in 08. Honestly, 19k for a 08 sti on trade isn't that bad, since you can find 08s for about 21-22k obo, He has to just wait for someone who wants what he has, maybe he will get close to what he is asking, but when you mod a car that much, you can't look at it like you are going to get anywhere near that back, unless you find someone who wants just what you have,

You say you got a good deal with your car, and in your eyes i am sure you did, but i bet the dealer didn't have more then 10k into the z06 you got for your sti. Not that its a bad thing, as if you are happy with how the deal went then that is all that matters.

Incase you don't know, at the end of 2008 subaru was selling 08 stis for 7k off msrp and 0% APR for 63 months. It put most people in STIs for 28-29k brand new, Pretty much everyone i knew with 08s bought them when this deal happened

^^^ I can vouch for this because I remember the frustration when the deal rolled out about 4 weeks after I paid 34.5 for a used 7k mile 08 sti.
