We are almost done with it all now!
I was finally able to trade out my car and pick up my New FRS yesterday Dec 7, 2012. My frist FRS was number 5,5XX and this one is 11,XXX so a bit strange that it is double what the previous was. I put a fair amount of miles on the first FRS since purchasing it July 24, 2012. Anyway here are pics of the new arrival. Notice that was placed on the old car once the inspection was completed. All that is left now, is for me to get the clear bra work done and send in for the reimbursement. The actual vehicle exchange process was very quick and easy (as far as the day of the transaction goes). |

Sounds like Toyota is just going to resell your old one right off the bat.

Thank you, feels good to be done. Not sure, as stated above, I would just call them. I have a few race teams that have already been asking me about the car as well. I took good care of it too. Took it in for service etc. Car is a good buy now. |

Whew.....I just read the whole thread.
To the comments of, "The value of the car will drop due to CarFax", it was stated that, "The repairs will be done by the MFR, thus no record of it". I will say this means that CarFax won't have a record, thus no "value hit". Sigh. I don't feel the issue was a major one, but.......you bought a new car, it should be "perfect". I wonder what "Butt kicking" went on in the factory to let something like this through the whole line. Must have been a "Monday" or "Friday" car. rolleyes Glad you have a new car, a buddy of mine received the 1st new BRZ in CO earlier in the year. Another buddy got one in TX. Have fun with the new wheels. |

It is pretty interesting that this made it out of the factory(if that is where it happened) but the Japanese don't operate like that. They don't point fingers. They expect fixes and the workers will do whatever it takes to fix the issue. Its a pride thing. |

I can't remember the title, but Michael Keaton did a movie about the "culture clash" between the US & Japan in the 80's (?). Thus, my statement in my earlier post. Sucks for the OP, glad it worked out seeing I've owned a Toyota (& and few Subaru's.) |

Somebody should buy this at auction, take a pair of pliers, bend that little piece back and get a perfectly good car. What whiny little entitled bitch the OP is. I can't believe what this country has come to anymore. |

There ya go!!
It was fun and sad at the same time. When people sak, "Why has the US fallen behind....." I point to a few issues. Unions can be one of them. Lot's of humor, but I see the "Union reality" too often in the: Metro NY area Boston Chicago Outside of that, I can deal with them. Some are great peeps to deal with. In the 3 listed, many are PITA's to deal with. PS, yes, I have my Nomex on, so the union guys can flame my butt...... P, PS, my Legacy was assembled in the US, where was yours assembled?? |

By NON union workers. While taking a tour of the plant a few years back, we were told that the workers have received a raise every year since SIA opened. Over the past couple years, they have also been getting a good amount of overtime. |

I gave them plenty of options other than replacing the car, they chose to replace it. I appreciate your deep insight into the matter though. |

It's his money, his car. When you buy a new car, don't you expect it to be perfect? Besides, he is letting Toyota/FHI know that something went wrong on the assembly line, saving the factory money and other future owners some heartache. OP, glad you got this situation figured out. 69subaru360, go choke on some two-stroke oil under your bridge. |

If we just accepted things the way they were given to us this country would have never been founded in the first place. This isn't a mom and pop shop, this is Toyota they can spare to give up an extra FRS for the one they messed up |

well, I actually read through this (well most of it) this morning. That was quite the 6 month endeavor wasn't it. If I was in a similar situation and bought a brand new car and found damage before I even left the lot on delivery day I would have wanted the situation remedied as well. Lucky for the OP he was offered a new replacement. I think I would have taken that as well. It is good to see that a company that size still takes the time to ensure a customer is happy and taken care of.
OP enjoy the new car (another one ) and glad to see everything worked out well. |

I am happy with how this has turned out, and Toyota has done nothing but try and put a smile on my face. They are a good company, and I will buy from them again. |

probably is, yeah.
I can't believe so many people have a hard time with the fact that the OP paid for a new car that is flawless, and wants it flawless. Why would he settle for less? It was the factory's fault, and it got by inspection to boot! This is a no brainer. I agree the problem looks somewhat petty overall- but that doesn't matter, it shouldn't be there. Whiny little entitled bitch? Man, he is entitled for sure- to a new car without defects. |
