ok time to get back on track...
These were taken quite some time ago but I figured I'd throw it in here First the base coat was applied and let to dry Then the vinyl was added carefully After that, layer and layer of clear coat and left to dry Will update later after I paint up more goodies. |

I posted in the other "unique/custom" thread with my L's V1 custom display in the gauge cluster:
Since that is now a full time track car, I bought a WRX wagon for a daily now and did the V1 clock mod to it. However, I haven't seen anyone leave the clock plastic so when the V1 is off you can't see a display in there. I'll probably change the LEDs in it like the one in my L eventually. Installed into clock: V1 boot up: V1 idle: V1 main unit, going to add a windshield tint strip to hide it even more: |

Just finished this up last night. Been trying to come up with a semi-permanent way of mounting my GPS so that I don't have to worry about the windshield mount or adapter advertising the fact that I have a GPS, and I could just leave the GPS in the car. This is what I came up with:
It could be a bit prettier, but I'm happy with it. The GPS can be removed from the visor if I want to use it in another car or update the maps. I've done the V1 in the clock pod thing too, but I used a tinted piece of plastic (similar to the clock plastic but no clock buttons). And I got some extended screws and mounted my V1 right underneath the dome light, using the dome light mounting points. Much harder to spot from outside (I used to have it above the rear view mirror), and much harder to steal (since it's screwed into the roof.) |

^ Do you have any pictures taken from the side that show the overall thickness of the visor plus the GPS?

Nice work, guys. The GPS install looks pretty decent to me and I like the fact that it can be hidden, removable and not in the middle of your windshield on a suction cup mount.

Thanks. Also nice is that after removing the metal part of the visor where the GPS was placed, the rest of the visor is just foam, so you can even hear the GPS well when the visor is up. Needing to have it down all the time when in use would definitely be annoying.
