Overspray all over my car, what t do?
They sprayed the dumpsters at my work with paint and got overspray all over every inch of my car. They have offered to fix it, one shop quoted $3200 for fully wetsand and reclear. Any ideas?

Clay bar? Really? Jesus Christ I hope you guys are joking. It's paint, not brake dust.
OP, go for the new paint job. Sure it'll be a pain in the ass to have your car missing for a few days but it'll be worth it to get rid of the ****ty Subaru paint. |

vote for paint job, if the guy will only pay for the wet sand and reclear then get the 3k and go else where and get the paint job done or add a couple of dollars and get it done there.

let them pay for it. or take the $3200 buy a claybar kit for $8 see if it works = profit $3192 if it doesn't...you can get a really nice paint job for $3192 |

Oh not to mention, even if factory paint may be ****ty, its factory paint and you know you aren't going to have problems with it or spots where poor prep work or application come bite you in the ass later. To me thats worth something and I'd rather keep my factory paint. But take the money or use it either way get something from them. Last edited by apex32; 08-22-2010 at 05:30 PM. |

If the OP doesn't want to have it resprayed (for whatever reason), I would (personally) suggest a decontamination kit like Valugaurd ABC (which you can buy at Detailers Domain) and follow up with a clay bar as needed. If it requires more aggressive follow up, you can move on from there. If you do decide to take them up on their offer of having it repainted, make sure you get the final say on what shop will do the work. |

Let's see...repaint can kill the resale value and on a relatively new STi, this could be a good chunk of change. Your logic is flawed brah.

Not saying he's going to paint it this color, or put it for sale right away, but if he painted it SRR I'd pay more for it due to the fact that there are no SRR sti's in the GD chassis and it is my absolute favorite Subaru color. Regardless of what the OP does, I think that he is going to come out ahead. |

CLAY BAR. best thing for overspray. ive removed a ton of overspray from all types of cars in the same situation like you.
take the money, clay bar your car, replace all the trim and pocket the rest. an aftermarket paint job isnt a good solution. you'll have runs and dust in your paint and probabyl overspray all over the place form the ****ty job 3k would get you. again... USE THE F'ING CLAYBAR !!! lol the advice on nasioc blows me away some times. |
