Default Which tires should I get?

Almost 9,000 on her and its getting down to where I'm looking into replacing tires and brakes. I was looking into all season tires and was wondering if I should get the Sumitomo HTR+ or Kumho ECSTA ASX. Cant really decided and the money difference between the two are only a few bucks.

I just bought the Yokohama V4S after much research onthe phone and on the net and am very happy with them so far. Anything you get will be better then stock Re-92s.

I had the Sumitomo's last winter and had few complaints.
but we do not get much snow down here.
What little snow they saw was when I was in upstate NY.
I had no complaints about thier performance in snow.
I cannot give you an informed opinion on their dry traction, as they were on my car when I bought it used. they were 'decent', especially for the price.
If your car is a daily driver and is not used in competitive driving, they are a decent year round tire.
When mine got thin, I went w/ the Continental Conti Extreme Contact.
no snow yet, so I can't compare that end.
the Conti's are better on dry land.

on the brake front, due to the high price of Subaru replacement pads for Brembos, I went with EBC Red Stuff. very good pad. great price. no complaints.

9,000 miles seems kind of short life for tires & brakes . . .
how many months was that?

I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's and love them. My friends couldn't believe the amount of wet grip they provided, and they're just great on dry pavement too.

I have the Kumho ASX's. Great wet, dry traction, snow. Not great in gravel or hard packed snow.

Potenza RE50A Pole Position is what I ended up going with after my stock RE90s got worn down. Here's some survey stuff at Tirerack:

I got Toyo Proxes 4 just because they came with my wheels. I was surprisingly impressed.

I've driven through 2" of snow and they held the road better then I expected. And in the dry they handle great. I might actually get them again when its time to replace tires...

I just put on a set of KUMO ASX on my STI and I am very happy. They were great in the big snow storm we got here in chicago. I got them at a discount tire store and paid $105/tire.

My coworker put a set of Kumho Ecsta ASX's on his wife's Acura recently, and apparently, they're pretty good, given our recent snowfall (the first of the year so far). I'm probably going to get them for myself, too, especially given that they're very reasonably priced.

I've got ASX's, but stick with the stock size. I went plus 0 up to 225's, and now am probably going to find a set of junkyard stock rims with snow tires... plus 0 is a wide enough tire to make a difference, especially on ice, compared to a 205.

I have ASXs and they are very nice tires and have surprisingly good dry grip. They are also really good in the wet I couldnt tell you about snow though as we dont get any in florida.

I have ASX, because they were very cheap.

I'm not completely happy with the performance, but after the first 5k they got better. To me, the grip lacks progressiveness at the edge. I've had them for about 20k and I can see the tread block edges are getting torn up. They seem to do better in cold, but not great.

Overall, I would call them a big step up over the RE-92s. After this winter they will be used only for cold weather. I decided to try the Falken 452.
